Got an RMA from Archos, but have to pay all the postage costs to France. Not really fair for a fault from their side...

Are you powering it down completely before powering it back up? The way I got this to work was to power it down fully, ensure that both volume buttons were depressed and held in when I went to power it back on. I had it plugged into my computer when I did it ...

Super fast and rock solid. Why can't archos make their firmware as stable and speedy?

Re: Will Cinema Plugin survive reset or upgrade?
I bought a second hand Archos 101 with cinema plugin. If I reset the tablet to defaults or install new firmware, will I lose that cinema plugin (I do not have the original aos file)? Is there a way to find that aos file on the device somewhere?
No, you won't lose it.
You can re-create the plugin ...

Re: Android 3.0 Gingerbread rumors and facts
We are talking about 1 year timeframe. I think Archos (and probably all other manufacturers) will not upgrade their current devices to Gingerbread, but they will release a new generation. So, as I believe, Gingerbread upgrade for Gen8 devices is out of question.
Indeed, I just hope they don't ...

Re: Portable hard drive usage. Archos 70 250gb
Depends if they are using a 1,8" or 2,5" hard drive. The 1,8", like the one in ipod classic, is better protected against shocks than the 2,5". Not sure what archos uses. Maybe someone here knows?

Re: 101 really just 256 ram? please noooo!
You should only buy it if you are happy with froyo 2.2. Even if it had 512mb ram, archos would probably not provide an upgrade to gingerbread 3.0.

Re: Rooting Question
Isn't this just an urban legend? Don't know of any flash chips that have those limitations. Parts of the nand are reflashed all the time by the way, when you copy files, use programs or change settings on the device.
