try connecting your archos via usb on any divx ready dvd player, works fine for me(only if your dvd player has usb it should show the menu of your archos files select then play.

dual boot with angstrom linux and load fb reader application.

thought they may have thrown in a few free plugins...not as if they will generate anymore cash from this old tech now.

just discovered if i connect my 5imt to my photo frame, it will play video files that the archos 5imt does not have the codecs for, I have a few movies that require the plugins, which I refuse to purchase. yet hooked to my photo frame they play perfectly, and on a much bigger screen. deep joy ...

I get loads of screen protection vinal at work from other devices. Got a small pile on the desk in front of me now.
I use a stylus so I tend to change them quite a lot, as scratches show after a couple of weeks.
I cut them to size with a craft knife, I give them a pull off tag as well..... :lol ...

I only use my TV+ to charge my A5 IMT, store movies,TV Progs, music,photos and some PDF files. connect to your PC with a USB cable, and dump stuff across.
I will often stream video from my PC as it has a whole range of codec's that I would otherwise have to pay Archos for.
I use MediaTomb to stream ...

Do you have a DVD player with a USB port ??? I can plug my A5 imt into the USB port on my DVD player and call up a menu of all video files. I select the one I want to watch and bobs your auntie. I usually record most of my video files in DIVX .You will see this format on most up to date DVD players ...

is this thread dead.......or has anyone got an ebook reader up and running.

just had a look at the format, all of my audio books are MP3's.
I have never used any other format sorry.

Just go to "Tools" "Files" look for and open Video folder, highlight the movie you want to remove, click on Top right drop down menu. open file management and select delete.
the movie is no more and you have regained the space it used..

I'm just in the process of dumping 13 episodes of Spartacus Blood and Sand onto my A5 imt.
They are all AVI,with MP3 audio, each episode uses about 500Mb..
Quality is fine for watching on the Archos.
Can hook it through the USB port on my DVD player and watch on a large screen TV. A bit grainy but ...

l use omg dvd ripper and arista transcader.l tend to run xvid, avi with mpeg 3 audio files.Arista is pretty fast at transcribing most formats to xvid and can be downloaded free on linux systems. l run ubuntu on an old IBM pc, fast and efficient.

These files were WinDoze after all, l loaded XP to an old linux pc,and sure enough they downloaded a couple of files to my A5 imt. euro tv or somethinglike that. free files for registering with Archos.....

At this minute I am encoding M4P files with Arista Transcoder for portable devices.
For the A5 IMT I tend to transcribe all video to Xvid-sys Avi.
Arista will rip and convert DVD's or MP4 A3C movie downloads.
Time consuming but worth it.

It would probably be of more use, if it could be loaded with another linux distro.
There are plenty of apps I would like to use on the TV+ a wireless keyboard with mouse pad would be a good idea to.

No it only works as a server as far as l can see.
l have to plug it into my pc to view and transfer files,cant say l use it much, since l got my A5 imt, use it mainly for storeage and wireless playback.
l haven't bought any of the plugins.

Just had a thought, I could hook the V+ Box up to the Ethernet connector on the TV+,
probably have to use a crossover cable.
Will report back if this works.

You should be able to view the TV+ hard drive if you hard wire it through the RJ45 Ethernet connector, and hook it up to your router.
