OK, back again..

I messed about with this some more, holding the buttons + and power in while plugging it in, holding power for 10+ seconds etc., all the usual stuff until i got it doing the quick flash/pause routine, then i left it for 20 minutes flashing, and when i came back to it, the light ...

My 80 g9 is out of the box 3 days, on it's first discharge, and now it's bricked.

will not charge - the light shows only slow flicker pattern..

holding in the power button for 10,20,40 etc. seconds does nothing, but it will stop the light flashing after about 3-7 flashes.

recovery mode does not ...

the stock one is branded ARCHOS, model is : ksas0100500200d5, input 100-240VAC, output is 5VDC at 2.0A , centre is + on the plug.

is the harddrive 'spinning up' ? try using an external device with it's own PSU - the arnovas have feeble USB ports, and really will not work with much more then a memory stick.. something like a harddrive can overwhelm it sometimes..

yup, I hadn't posted on this subject before.. my recording experience was mixed, mostly jerky, so when I searched to see if anyone elsechad the same issue, this thread came up and was inconclusive, so I bumped it..

I like the 32, it's so small and fun, it's a gift.. it connects and holds wifi better then the a5a does, and resumes wifi from sleep flawlessly.. Streaming is solid from on samba, but Chokes on mp4 video streams which is a shame - but this can be sorted with an upgrade i'm sure..

Yes, that is pretty much the same part - anchor tabs 'knifed' out of the sleeve, to the rear of the socket from the looks of it.. The whole thing looks of poor design, even when you look at it in place (like i am now doing on my X10) it LOOKS shoddy and as if the sleeve shape has been 'stamped' out ...
