Re: alleged 1 click root on 101

And, co-incidentally, Google disabled my account too, just after installing this "Root hack". google forced me to reset my password. Which meant I had to reset the password on all my Archos devices - not easy. I assume you uninstalled the app after that. Is your Archos still rooted? Because if it i...

Re: Why is my Archos 70 so much slower than my HTC Desire?

Finaly got my A70 (from Expansys). No matter what optimization you try it can't compare to the Desire. Browser, mail, picture gallery, actually everything is slower. I don't think it's only the hw, software still feels a little "beta". Hopefully Archos will continue to improve it's version of android.

Re: Huawei S7 Android tablet coming to Best Buy for $299

1. Resistive = no multitouch
2. 4 h battery life is unacceptable IMHO.
At this price I would rather get a netbook, there really is no advantage.

google nav worked first time for me, using a 101 and the free gps mouse app in the first post What im wondering, for us students that dont have super phones to tether 3g to load map tiles from, what GOOD navi apps store the maps offline? Navdroid is pretty cheap but does a very good job. Uses OpenS...

Quick Settings from Market. You can set it up to pop-up when you long press the search button so you can quickly access various settings from within any app.

Re: toshiba folio 100 in stock at in the uk...rival to the 1

My conclusion is Android itself is not for tablets YET! Every manufacturer has jumped on the Android bandwagon hoping it could be ported from the phone format to tablet with minimal work, just as Apple did with iOS. It is proving a hard task. OK, you CAN get minimal web function with apps, but peop...

Interesting use of the A101

http://twitter.com/ruqqq still can't accept the fact that my #android tablet can torrent on its own. <3 Didn't get to use the archos much today but... downloaded 5x350mb torrent. 2x350mb unrar-ed. Some web browsing: 72% left from a full charge. Some might dispute the torrent download. Hence to clari...

Re: Cruz Tablet is no longer a competitor

I said it before, I'll say it again: there is (and probably wouldn't be for another 6 months) any competition for the Archos 101 and 70. Not if you consider ALL of the below: - price - design / build quality - software (OS, codecs support); I can't stress enough how important software is, everybody ...

I'm sorry you don't like your iPad. Welcome back

To answer your first question: yes. Android has a "normal" file structure implementation, like every other decent OS you know.

Yes, you can buy an unlocked GSM MiFi. I use one throughout Europe as I travel by swapping in different pay-as-you-go SIM cards from different countries to get local data access at local rates. Can't say anything about Canada though, eh? Michael Could you post a list of SIM cards/providers you used...
