Seems to be caused by an inconsistent database state in Android's database.

I already tried that. It didn't work.

Currently our guess is that there is a specific file that "upsets" the metadata scanner.
To cure the problem I guess that you can only remove this file.
For us to cure the problem it would be nice to know what file is causing this issue.
