Re: Battery dock no longer connecting properly
My dock stopped working for me about 6 months ago. I've tried everything. Nothing worked. My usb works for charging if the cable is in just the right way... sort of annoying.

Re: Archos gps
There is no legit way to get turn by turn gps navigation for free. You can however find apps that display a map and your GPS location point on it (often you have to cache/save map sections for off-line use).

All of them, a few times over. My Archos was already rooted, but even for that, I did that again. Burnt several hours on this.sephhi wrote:No this is not limited in any way. You should have access to everything. What steps have you done so far?

Re: Tweaks for your Archos 5 with rooted firmware (Updated)
So, I should have assumed that this would be a limited version of the Archos operating system (i.e., no access to media center functions, including the file manager!)... or at least that is how it plays out for me.

so the free space (e.g., 512mb or whatever) is for the apps. Is the remaining space that is ext3 for the memory optimization or just regular storage for files and such. I would rather have more space for apps, I suppose, but I do not want to take away from the ability to run in low memory mode or wh...

sephhi... you said about 512mb is fine... tell me more. What if I do 1024mb, what would that give me? Does that allow better memory optimization at the cost of less space for apps?

Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device
I'm getting this (above) error when trying to mount on Ubuntu 10.04, while using Archos firmware 1.9.34. I've already tried two different Ubuntu machines, with the same error.
Any information on what this is about?

I had a gomadic... wouldn't recommend though. It's been a while, but I think the holder (size and configuration) was inferior. I had higher expectations of the "fit."

Re: Android 2.2, rumors, speculation and facts
apparently that 2.1 upgrade is still in the fuzzy subspace between being really out and just mentioned. If you look at the Archos 7 Home Tablet (aka the 7" screen version of our 5's) there's a button that says "Compare Home VS Internet Tablet" and when you click that a window comes up with a side b...

Thanks, R If you have the flash storage model you can use the Archos' microsd slot (if you camera uses microsd... but if your camera uses regular sized sd card, ...

To be clear... Archos is waiting for Adobe. Adobe changed the rules and recalibrated requirements for Flash 10; that decision affected Archos and a ton of other companies.

On a side note, what is the 'Market4Archos'? I push it, and all there is is a button asking if I want to remove Google apps. Text from the wiki : As a side note, the reason you have the "Market4Archos" icon in your programs list is to uninstall only. It is explained during the install that uninstal...
