custom fonts in custom firmware?
Is anyone working on customized AVOS firmware beside the available OE stuff? For instance, I study ancient Greek and Esperanto but the fonts in AVOS do not have the accented characters for these languages so anything I read in Opera has the unknown "box" character. It'd be nice it AVOS had the ...

Re: Any way to get more than 4 home shortcuts on the A5?
As was mentioned it is possible to shortcut a folder if it a subfolder of either Video\ or Music\. It may be possible to manually edit the shortcuts and get them pointing where you like. They are stored in a XML file in the System\ folder called home_gadgets.xml. It has a fairly simple structure ...

Re: pbt's google maps for A5-IMT(FIXED) *added "Terrain"
I think flash ability is disabled for widgets altogether.
This document seems to imply that it may be possible to enable flash plugins for widgets:

Re: Making widgets not suck (modified Twitter widget included)
hey all, sorry I've been awol. I wasn't receiving notifications from this thread. I did get Spz0's email a few days ago, but haven't been able to respond due to work travel, etc.
I see you've already worked out the problem with the widget. Thanks. What was the issue?

You don't unzip them. Just pu the zip file itself in your widgets folder.

No, these are just ones I've modified. Though other widgets that work with the Archos exist of course. You just can't find them here.

I am trying to enter the widget page mentioned above but it seems that the site doesn't load, anyone know why or I am the only one experiencing this problem?

Re: List of .apk files that work - testing, screenshots/videos
Just got my A5 yesterday. One app that works great I haven't seen mentioned yet is Droid Comic Viewer:

It's a cbr/cbz comic reader and it works like a charm. On my older Archos 5 I would just unzip comics into my Pictures folder and use the photo app ...

Re: Making widgets not suck (modified Twitter widget included)
Hey, all. I've updated my Google Maps widget to do directions and traffic overlays. I've made a menu that matches the Archos 5/7 GUI. Let me know what you think. Here are a few screenshots:

Making widgets not suck (modified Twitter widget included)
I have yet to find some Opera widgets for my Archos 5 that do not suck. The widgets I find promising either don't work or their UI is very ill-suited to the Archos screen and interface. In some cases, the 'standard' web interface of an app is usable, but often sub-optimal. So, I've decided to stop ...
