I was in the middle of transfering files to the archos 7, 8 gb, was transfering them to my 16gb SD card in the archos.

The file transfer frooze annd the unit went dark screen.

I have tried reset button, holding down for 30 seconds, nothing tried sliding and hoolding power on button for 30 seconds ...

got the GPS adapter and issues as follows.

1st the cd would not instal. Was on phone with tech suppport, they wanted me to try another computer.

I would not get the next option to move on after the initial disk ran.

The tech guy then had me go to a fttp site, and ...

It does not really seem to be a bunch of info on the software being used and if there is updates.

Had you thought about just changing the lens ? I noticed they are selling a auto iris for helmet cam, If i had the $$$, i would get it and try it.

this would / should take care of what you mentioned.

But you are right about one thing, a real pain in connect / disconnect the archos ...

I believe there our legit movie sites, that could atleast be linked or posted. Esp if they cater to the archos unit.

i bet the thing would then lock up and freeze, thats alot of os to that arms chip.

you would loose speed and processor big time.

I use to do vhs to dvd conversion in 1999/2000. with my computer and a ads system conversion device called ads 2.0. back then they cost about $250 and $500 for my dvd burner.

keep in mind, that usually, when it is plugged in and charging after 10 to 20 minutes, you should be able to see the computer fund the hard drive and so forth or the screen to come on with the option of charge only or usb / hd.


if this did not come up or on at all, then you might have a lcd issue ...

I have ran into this also.

there our a few things, i feel are taking place.

Depending on the model, and firmware. It has issue of going into standby mode and not shutdown mode.

making sure you hold the power button, until it says shutting down.

2- keep in mind, that a battery typically drains 1 ...

How old is the unit ?

What i also mean is that these units, the serial number on the back, the first few numbers will determine how old the unit is.

this is something to keep in mind. As many of these units were made in Set 07 and naturally the battery will have a short life, by the time you buy ...

what unit model ? 4 gb ? 30 gb ?

was the sd card installed ? remove and try without.

if still getting error, then a rma or return to store is what i recommend.

I wish someone woulc do a hack where you can add a anntenna to the darn thing to boost range.

bad news about dvd43 though, not on vista. even worse be like me 64 bit vista, my vinyl cutter / plotter, no work, have to wait until jan 09 for the company to do a driver.

register it, and its up to you to update firmware, you do not have 2. but I recommend it. its solves previous issues. noted in the update firmware,. you can click and view previous fixes.

still need firmware info and if you checked all the wifi settings in the unit ? what were they set at ?

my guess the update might have taken wrong or need re-done, the settings might have got recent,

you try a pin reset ?
