Archos might have FINALLY nailed a product to hit all the bases (IMO). The Gamepad 2 looks like it has a shot.
Just hope the game controls, battery life and display are a LOT better than Gamepad 1. That was pretty bad, even compared to the JXD gaming devices.
BTW, the one negative is they are ...

Re: size of SD card allowed?
Neither ICS or JB like fat32. Problematic writing to files or deleting. Best to format ex/Fat so third party apps work correctly with the card.

Re: New Firmware Available 27th December 2012
Well after some testing it looks like really good news. The lag seems to have gone. Android is running so much smoother. The controls are working perfectly so far, including games that the virtual joystick only shows up when the screen is touched (I had problems with this before with NFS: Most ...

Re: Problem with files in SD Cards
Considering the small internal 6 GB of free storage, that is a pretty big miss that needs fixing.

Re: How does the performance compare to the Tegra 3?
So a framerate issue with the Youtube videos? Be interesting to see when you guys get them. I am not concerned with commercial games since there is not enough storage space for them. Just game emulators- especially MAME and PSX.

How does the performance compare to the Tegra 3?
I notice that the Youtube videos showing Mario 64, Shadowgun, Dead Trigger and Asphalt 7 all seem to not be as smooth as my GS3, Excite 7.7 or TF300. Those games are all butter smooth on those devices. The GS3 is a 1.5ghz dual core and also plays smoother as well.

Re: Gamepad First Impressions
Since there is less than 6gb of free space, there will not be too many GTA, EA or Gameloft games fitting on this device, so no harm no foul. Just three of the new Gameloft games will fill the storage up and there is not apps2sd with Jellybean.

Re: I found a review of the Gamepad.
Nice find and outstanding review effort by the poster :)
My only concerns in the review are that most people will not have brightness on max, so probably 30 more additional minutes of battery life. The other issue is why do reviews keep quoting "8gb" or any other flash rom size when formatting, OS ...

Re: News Upcoming on GamePad (also, system moved to November
There will be about 5gb free. This means most newer Gameloft and EA games will not be practical to have unless juggling them. I will get one of these when discounted. The Excite 7.7 is amazing and worth the $400 I paid and has 28gb free internal and and sd slot. Still looking forward to a Gamepad ...

Re: News Upcoming on GamePad (also, system moved to November
I might end up getting one of these at discount later on to use 100% as a game emulator device, but the five or so GB that will be free is too low to use for much else. A lot of the better games now are well over 500 MB and the A titles like Gameloft are over 1GB each. The Gamepad should have had ...

Re: Alert to all gamers- Get this instead!
I agree. Main catch is the small storage space. As mentioned in another thread, seem 16gb at $179 would have been the better move.

Re: Storage Managment
Depends on the OS and if rooted or not for it to be supported. Too many unknowns at the moment. I agree that 8GB is not much for a gaming device, since only about 5GB is available once subtracting formatting, the OS, stock apps, rom space and the operational floor (can not go below 500mb). I would ...

Re: Why no forum for the GamePad yet?
Charb,
Please see if you can convince Archos to make this 16gb instead. Probably too late, but games like Asphalt And NOVA each take over 1.5gb of storage and no apps2sd option with ICS or Jellybean. The average 3D game is now over 400MB.

Re: Whay no forum for the GamePad yet?
I think perhaps Charbax might be assuming the 101X is going to sell huge, but the reality is there are already a lot of great 10" tablets and the iPads that already are available. Archos key to expanded success beyond mainly some Euro markets is a device like the Gamepad. My only concern for the ...

Why no forum for the GamePad yet?
Arguably the most interesting device releasing by Archos and not a peep from Charbax, nor Archos since the announcement. What kind of advertisement build up and effort is that, for a device (per Archos) releasing in around a month from now?

Alert to all gamers- Get this instead!
Charbie,
I take back all the knocks I have made against Archos: Assuming the Gamepad has a micro sd slot and full OTG support, of course ;)

Mark it down right here and humiliate me with glee if wrong. The 1.5ghz chip will NOT ship beyond small test samples in December. Probably aint' happening.

Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
All moot in NA at least since the market is about to get flooded with inferior (no Google market, one example) Fire and Nook 2, 7" tablets. That and the iPad2 means little room for anything else. Seems not enough market for Archos, Acer, ASUS, Toshiba, Samsung, Lenovo, etc to battle out for the ...

Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
Archos did the same thing last year- Over promise and under deliver in regards to timing and volume of devices. The actual product quality and low ram did not help with Gen 8. Is Archos going to release anything in November besides the 8gb versions? Perhaps in Europe, but not looking too good for ...
