Here is something I read in CPU magazine: The default network Workgroup name (name for the group of PCs making up your net) is defaulted to "MSHOME" in Windows XP. In Vista, the default is "WORKGROUP". Why they changed it, who knows. Just go to all PCs and in the Configure Internet Connections ...

Make sure all devices are in the same workgroup. The default for XP is "MSHOME" and Vista "WORKGROUP" (why did they change it??). I have my router, all PCs, & the Archos set at something different (call it "WHALE") just to be different but I know when something goes wrong that something is not set ...

NEVER! The 604 thread influenced so many Archos programmers that we need to get these down early

Did the vista people try the hack in the prior vista thread on enabling SAMBA on their desktop machine?

Apparently there's an Opera SDK for devices so I guess we could try and write the software ourselves? hehehehe... :idea: But then I'm sure Archos has locked their devices from being tampered "Hacked" with.

The commercial seems to imply networking between the 5G and a laptop - probably vis shared folders again (infrastructure) and not Zune-like device to device??

Quarter pixel stuff - the latest Divx has some fancy stuff in there - this is the speak the media players put in to state they cannot replay using that fancy additional processing but Xvid and older Divx are fine. No one really uses that encoding ...

Doesn't matter on or off. Obviously, off charges faster.

But if you want efficient charging, get a docking adapter which comes with a wall plug (mains plug in UK) as the USB charge is soooo sloooow.

Please do a forum search - cables guaranteed to fit cost < $10 now.
