What plug-in uses DivX and XviD?
I am curious what plug-in allows you to use DivX and XviD. The Cinema says (MPEG-2 format (.vob, .mpg and .ps extensions) and the Podcast says (mp4, .m4v or .mov extensions, encoded with H264 video codec).
Where does DivX and XviD fall into? I am guessing it is the Podcast since DiVx and XviD are MPEG-4.

Mostly likely the horizontal resolution is greater than the maximum 720 that the 605 can playDaibus wrote:I have downloaded DivX files from Stages6 onto my laptop where they can be played using the VLC player, but when I send to my Archos 605 they cannot be played. Why is this? Thank you for your help.

Re: What plug-in uses DivX and XviD?
I'm going to bump this old thread to mention that with the latest firmware I have not been able to use any MP4 container file with DIVX and MP3. It just crashes the Archos and reboots it whenever the file is touched.
I have determined through tests that DIVX/XVID and MP3 can only be used in an AVI format file.
DIVX/XVID with MP3 audio does not work in MP4 container files, causing instant crash.
DIVX and AAC works in MP4 but this requires purchasing H.264/AAC plugin.
It's probably an unintended bug because the MP4 container spec says you can use MP3 just fine, but Archos 605 crashes instantly encountering MP3 in an MP4 container file.
