cynik, my two cents:
(1) mini docking adapter
Why? for travel, I can charge faster and pump the output into a friend's or families' Tv
(2) DVR station
Why? to record at home, also to output to HDTV in component (mini dock is only composite)
I would also consider the battery dock, but word on those here so far is not positive (e.g., can't play a fully discharged unit). If I travel with a laptop, 4-5 hours of playback on the Archos is tolerable.

PS As I probably mentioned on another thread (or did you suggest?!!), I'll likely pick up the two accessories from Dell for $100.

1. I would choose the DVR Station for obvoius reasons. It integrates nice with your home theatre and it turns your tv into a pc for surfing/email or relaxing reading this forum..and it just looks nice sitting there charging away :P
2. The other one I would choose would be the battery dock. Its an all round good all in one unit for traveling. Last generation you needed the mini DVR Dock AND the Travel adapter to get the same features as the battery dock has, minus the recording line in.
With the battery dock you can extend your playback, fast charge, use it for playing back on tv and also gives you USB host so you can transfer data back in forth from other USB devices.
Be aware some are having issues with the battery dock as to the way it was designed for the battery portion, but I think having the other features built in outweighs this possible temporary shortcoming if you want to call it that. If I understand correctly, if you plug in the battery dock right away when your unit if fully charged, it will perform as it was designed. Just don't wait till your player is discharged before you decide to hook it up.
Now, all this is based on you never wanting to record anything while you are travelling. I don't think many people have access to a tuner while travelling, so I always rule that feature out.

I would just like to mention for the benefit of those reading this, there are a couple of other accessories that may interest you
FM Remote Control
It is called an fm remote as it adds broadcast FM to your archos player.
The remote plugs into the headphone jack and your earphones plug into the remote. It will allow you to control the player without taking it out of the case. For $30, this is one accessory that I would like myself.
Helmet Camera for around $149.
Helmet Camcorder Gen 5
ÔÇó High resolution Mini-Cam with built-in remote and microphone
ÔÇó Perfect for extreme sports and professional applications
ÔÇó Delivered with DVR travel adapter and head band

Tech depot got me with the same trick it seems...honeymonkey wrote:No confirmed purchases yet as far as I can see. Lots of websites selling it, but its just the ol "lets tell em we have it and see how many backorders we can get" trick.cynik wrote:Is the FM remote available for sale yet? I need it for voice recording.

sorry for contributing to "thread drift", but to respond to the last point:

Looks like laurafraser is a rare success story, having gotten the 160GB from Amazon before 9/1. Maybe she has friends in high places.
But for the rest of us, I think we should be skeptical of what we see online!...especially places that will charge before shipping.
