Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi - All Discussion Here
I flashed the 1.7.71 firmware to the Archos 5, and I am still unsuccessful at tethering it from my Motorola Droid via Bluetooth? Am I just retarded? (feel free to call me retarded, so long as you can help me ;p)

Hi, retard, and welcome!
From what I am seeing, getting T-mo phones to tether with the A5 involves ritual sacrifice (which seems to be better than Ma Bell, which involves a crappy deal at a crossroad....) But hopefully archos will fix it soon.

Success with my Sony Ericsson Satio. Thought I was going to have a few problems after reading some of the posts here but it went through smooth as silk and have been happily browsing the web and accessing the market while at work
BB9630 and latest firmware
Quick note regarding BB 9630 (Sprint) and tethering...
I was UNABLE to tether to my BB after upgrading the firmware - just downgraded to prev. version (version from 1/20/2010) and it's tethering again!
As usual with Archos and their "developers"....one step forward, two steps back...
Hope that helps...

Just a quick question....did you remove the pairing on both A5A and phone, and then repair - ideally with a reboot of *both* devices in between......and then try again ?jcelano wrote:Quick note regarding BB 9630 (Sprint) and tethering...

Reason I ask is that my previously flawless tethering to a Nokia 5800 fell flat upon updating firmware to 1.7.71, and I was all set to step back to 1.7.33....but, about 30 mins of fiddling as above finally got it working and it has been fine ever since
The one step that made it happen for me, even after deleting the pair, rebooting devices and so on, was to actually click on the listed phone in the Tethering menu - this seemed to force some kind of detection, which then decided that my phone was tether capable after all, whereas just attempting to turn the tether on reported 'tethering not available' or similar.

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi - All Discussion Here
Hello,
I am working on getting my A5A connected to my PC via adhoc networking. But before I jump in and make any changes I want to check, after making the adb changes suggested in this post and the wiki, can you still connect to other access points as well as the adhoc setup you modified the files for? The reason I ask is that I have an adhoc network at one location and an ap at another and want to try to be mobile between both.
Thank you

Hi,
Yes, I actually did all that and was not able to get anything working again...kept getting the THIS PHONE DOES NOT SUPPORT TETHERING message
The Roll-Back seemed to be the fix for me - I expect the next firmware will have it working again and the following one won't...
Thanks!

Well, tethering is completely broken for me using my Nokia e71. Worked flawless before the upgrade to 1.7.71. I have tried deleting pairing and rebooting both devices with no luck. But, Bluetooth PAN is working with my Samsung Jack winmo phone. But, I hate using the Jack:(

And after you upgrade to the new firmware...?

What about tethering from a PC to the A5? Either via Bluetooth or USB. Is that possible? (I am going to irrationally refer to this as "reverse" tethering"!!!) ;p
Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi - All Discussion Here
1.7.77 fixed my nokia e71 tethering:)
Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi - All Discussion Here
Concurs with the release notes, suggesting that the Archos guys have tethering improvingplwweasel wrote:1.7.77 fixed my nokia e71 tethering:)

Credit where it's due: this release works GREAT!
Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi - All Discussion Here
New firmware still doesn't work with an AT&T Blackberry. Recognizes it as a DUN device, but does not connect to the network.

are you sure that you don't need to run some app on the phone for tethering?rlay wrote:New firmware still doesn't work with an AT&T Blackberry. Recognizes it as a DUN device, but does not connect to the network.

Nope. You don't need to run anything on a laptop to make it tether to the BB. Just DUN.

Re: Bluetooth tethering & AD-Hoc Wifi
FYI for G1 Users. I was not able to connect via bluetooth on my g1 using cyanogenmod, switched to dwang this morning and worded like a champ. Seems pretty fast, haven't had it long enough to say anything about stability. But it's tethering great now via bluetooth.
