And of course with the new firmware and new tethering support, time to retest everything...

Nothing has changed for me, on the surface at least. Tethering still works - but now it shows my phone "supports tethering" - it never told me before, it just did it.
It seems ever so slightly snappier.
I'm relieved it still works ok. (I wonder if the GPS still works).

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work
Are the Bluetooth tethering options added with firmware 1.7.71 such a big deal, do you think we should start a whole new thread (linking to the old thread) about Bluetooth tethering tested support from firmware 1.7.71 and forward?

I like the new topic idea. I also feel first post in the new topic should link to the appropriate page in our Wiki, and encourage folks to search there and add new BT tethering info there, once the kinks have been discussed and resolved in the new topic posts.

I set APN to "internet", don't know if that's needed. No other settings.

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work
Hello Desigunda,
I successfully managed the tethering with my HTC Touch HD using your instructions. Thank you!
But after upgrading to 1.7.71 I have the problem of not tethering. in which way can I change to PAN?

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work
Looking forward to this also - my Nokia XM5800 had always tethered perfectly, but now - with 1.7.71 - the A5A just says "This phone does not support tethering"desigunda wrote:I will put instructions shortly...flymike2 wrote:Hello Desigunda,

Tethering worked fine on my N97, until I messed with the standard settings. Then I got the same message as you.
I un-paired the Archos from the phone, and vice versa. Re-started both devices. Re-scanned the Archos for the phone, re-paired etc, and all was fine.
It now works fine on my Nokia, without making any non standard settings. Just let the phone do it. For me, it did take about three attempts.
Seems to be a bit of a black art.

Kinda hoping that the Symbian implementation of Bluetooth is comparable between N97 and 5800.......gonna try, else my lunch break is going to be a little dull

Bluetooth PAN works with my Samsung Jack running winmo 6.5. Also has always and currently works with my Nokia e71.

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work
Doh ! So can you advise settings, 5800-specific and A5A-specific, so that I can try to replicate ?Astijan wrote:Mine gets the connection to my 5800XM.kevpuk wrote:Dag Nam it - no luck - tethering is officially broken on the 5800![]()
Really odd, as my 5800 tethered first time to my A5A since early firmware (1.4.09, I think) with none of the problems other users ahve experienced.....and now it just does not work; tried (un)pairing devices, rebooting both and so on

Re: List of Bluetooth tethering phones that work
Just wanted to report that with 1.7.71, I can now tether to the iPhone 3GS via bluetooth (using MyWi on JB iPhone)!! Could never do so before. The lack of a BT tether to the iPhone has been a major drawback to my using this device as a laptop replacement when traveling so thank you Archos for finally getting this working! I think the new support for Bluetooth PAN is the key for the iPhone. I also tested my previously working Nokia N96 by deleting the previous partnership and re-establishing it. Tether worked the first time! Looks to me like Archos is making very positive progress on the BT tether front.
