Archos 80 Xenon

Post by cek »

I just bought a archos 80 xenon
quick, convenient, appropriate size. Only problem the limited memory,
4 GB shared 2 +2 is really little, I bought a 32GB SD, hoping to solve the problem, however remains the same because the apps are installed exclusively on internal memory or USB memory (always internal memory USB);
If anyone has had the same problem and solved it look your specifications. I do not want to have root privileges. Only use an SD card to install apps.
thanks

Memory problem solved

Contrary to what he says and Archos customer support, you can install many apps on external SD memory, just go to memory management when it still did not install anything;
insert the SD Card
go to
Settings> Memory> Storage location
choose the SD Card device: External SD
then go to
Applications> installation path> Removable SD Card
done!!
and the problem is solved;
Fantastico !!!!

Archos XENON 80 has three storage options, internal, internal USB, External SD.

Tried to change the path of the external storage here:

a) Settings> Memory> Storage location > EXTERNAL SD CARD (my SD card has 8GB)
b) Applications> installation path> Removable SD Card

Even with these settings, all installations are still use part of the limited internal
storage instead of the Internal USB (USB now has 1,19GB left) and the internal memory has 142MB left.

This is bad memory management, the product doesnt even use the secondary USB memory
as alternative storage path and at the moment i cant install more apps (and i have plenty of free storage
on my external media).

I dont know, what is wrong, bad implementation from Archos, bad android managemet in general.
Does anybody know a workaround for this, even with a third party firmware?

GiGi ;)

Hello Mate
I have found that the only way to do this is to let the app install and then move as follows:
In settings go to apps - manage apps and manually move the app by tapping on move to sd card.
This appears to work only on your own installed apps and not on pre-installed apps.
