With the help of BirdieBNL, we are proud to bring you, an updated custom firmware for the Arnova 10 tablet. This update brings Android 2.2 Froyo along with Android Market and root access to the Arnova 10 tablet. This is a work in progress, please report any problem in the comments section of this article.


This firmware is specific to the Arnova 10 and should not be installed on other devices.

WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE.

THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE IS USED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Firmware update procedure:
Connect your device to the electricity socket, fully charge it and leave the socket connected
Unzip the update.img file out of the zip archive
Copy the img file to the root of your device
Unmount USB on your device, it should give a prompt similar to this one:

Push the Install button and follow the update procedure

You can also refer to our flashing procedure page for more details.

The first boot after flashing may take some time, please be patient.
There are some apps missing in the Market, we are working on it.

you guys should know that this software is still very very instable! just tried it out..

you might wait a few more weeks till the update releases

Yes well it is still in beta stages,he did say it was work in progress.
Heres a few bugs i've encountered:

1.force close on internet explorer.
2.for some reason after a reboot,the device resets itself(factory reset).
3.hopefully read/write access very soon(squashfs problem).
4.only able to see part of market content.

I also followed the wallpaper tut and created about 20 wallpapers that actually fit the screen correctly.Looks a heck of alot better.Make the primary background 1200x1024 and the picture you want on the screen 1100x600 and layer the 1100x600 over the top of the 1200x1024 background,place it top left,leaving a 1" space to the right of the picture,for the drawer.

Yes i will,if anyone needs any wallpapers created for your archos or arnova,just post the link to your wallpaper and ill modify it to fit your tablet screen.I'll start a thread for this.....

Will there be a bug fix on the kasty froyo 2.2.04?I keep hoping to see a new custom firmware or update soon.

I updated my arnove10 but now I have a screenlock.
Does anyone a suggestion how I can unlock my screen as sliding does not work or how to reset my device to the original firmware.

Did you calibrate the device? That was my problem at first. I skipped that step.

but the question is how get I the device working again?

You need to get that working. Keep restarting it using the pin hole and see if you can get a calibration screen that way. If that doesn't work your going to have to flash the system to a previous or updated firmware that way you can recalibrate it. You need to use the point of your finger to calibrate it.

I tried the reboot already and froyo starts up again, only I don't get a calibration screen and cannot turn off the device and the usb port does not work so I cannot put on new firmware in the root.
How can I get into the the restore screen?

You need to play around with the screen just start sliding everywhere. That is how I got mine to work. Hope I am helping. It will work eventually. You need to recalibrate it. Just try and keep restarting it.

o.k. that worked , but now I managed to install the older firmware and have the problem that I won't get further than the calibration screen as it give a constant message that the calibration failed.
I tried several versions firmware and they all gave this problem.

How can calibration fail? Are you using the tip of your finger? Try using the tip of your nail or pencil.
