I successfully connected a bluetooth gps module(holux gpslim 236) with the A101 using BlueGps4Droid 1.1.2. I was able to get my location in google maps. Next i tried Navigation, but after a couple of minutes my unit would freeze. Nothing would respond after 5 minutes in google navigation. I have to reset it afterward.
Is this freezing happening to anyone?

thanks!

google nav worked first time for me, using a 101 and the free gps mouse app in the first post

What im wondering, for us students that dont have super phones to tether 3g to load map tiles from, what GOOD navi apps store the maps offline?

Navdroid is pretty cheap but does a very good job. Uses OpenStreet maps. If you don't need fancy 3D graphics, meteo alerts, just plain navigation I would say it's worth every penny.

I have a generic bt gps receiver that i paired with my 2.2 101. after it paired the 101 said "paired but not connected" and I could not change that. but when I went into google maps it started up and received the gps data from the bt gps. as soon as i left google maps it did not continue to receive data. So i believe that as it is currently set up it will only connect and receive date when a program such as google maps requests gps data.

I downloaded a widget from the market to toggle gps (since the power control doesn't have it) and that seems to be working with copilot on the 101 (w/ 2.2.1)

I'm looking into buying a gps receiver, but I'm not quite sure which one to pick. Amazon.com has a bunch. Any particular brand stand out? What are the features I should look for?

I'd want something small, light weight, and pretty cheap, and obviously it should bluetooth pair with the archos 101

I love the Qstarz BT-Q818XT
This is the most accurate and best battery life. Fast sattelite acquisition, etc.
I BOUGHT FOR $79.00 COMES WITH CAR CHARGER AND USB CABLE.

This is the best most up to date unit currently available. :)

I have one of these Navin units. I can test when my A101 ships next month.

SuperSteve,
I noticed that in "Settings > Locations & Security" there is no option for usb host adapter, only for "Use Wireless Networks" + "Bluetooth". Did you manage to get the PL-2303 working on your Gen8 device?
