Has anybody any experience of using and external USB powered hard drive (such as the Buffalo Ministation Turbo) on the 705 ?
Can the Archos deliver enough power for one ?

Re: USB Powered External Hard Drive
I tried a couple a few weeks ago and they didn't work. (I have a post just below yours asking if anyone knows why but I don't have any responses yet!).
Re: USB Powered External Hard Drive
Must be a power issue, I have used external powered drives (500Gb) with no problems, but obviously these are not as mobile as the USB powered ones.
Re: USB Powered External Hard Drive
Have you tried using one via a powered usb hub ?

You can try a 1.8" drive such as those made by Apricorn, They work just fine without external power. I have a 120GB and a 160GB, however they no longer make the 160GB
Have a good day

The other item that I have been using and selling on ebay is the "Data Bank" or "Photo Vault" these are small 2.5" drive enclosures that contain a card reader and a rechargable battery. Plug it into the host socket and I now have a .5TB Archos 705, 160GB in the Archos and 320GB in the USB enclosure. As an added bonus you can dumd your photos from the card reader direct to the 705/704 unit
