I know that it is not a popular option around here, but I like to sync my MP3 players with software on my machine (iPod with iTunes on my Mac and my 404 and a Creative player with WMP on my PC). I have spent a lot of time working within WMP on my tags, playcounts, playlists, etc and do not want to switch to drag and drop at this time.
My issue is with the Archos and what happens when syncing. For some reason, corruption of the files happens regularly when doing this. By this I mean: The files sync over well enough, but for some reason the 'year' tag is screwed up and essentially 95% of the files end up being listed as released in 1970. As I do not navigate this way, it is not a huge issue for me. The problem is that over time and additional syncs, that data gets transferred back into WMP and *it* begins to list all of my albums as released in 1970. Again, annoying, but not a huge deal as I very seldom use that tag ass a way to navigate. The one day last week I noticed after a sync, that it had switched around a bunch of tags on pretty much ANY song that had been rated. It began to relabel most of the different tag fields (changing the title of the song to another song in my library, changing the genre, etc). This did not go over well as you can imagine.
Has anyone run into this? If so, was there a way to correct it? Are there similar issues with Media Monkey for those that use that software? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Syncing
As an additional thought, perhaps reloading the firmware would assist with these issues? Does anyone know if reloading the firmware will delete the Podcast add-on that I bought?
Thanks again.
