Some questions about Archos 5G

I have some questions about the Archos 5.

1. Can it be used as a camcorder without purchasing the helmet-cam add-on?
2. The TV-add on, is it free and will I be able to watch TV anywhere?
3. Can I plug in a video game system like the xbox into the audio in/video in ports of the archos and play it using the archos?
4. Same question as 2) except with the 3G USB connector
5. Can I play swf files stored on the archos?

nope not at this time

no its not free to buy but is free to use once bought, ive seen them only in one place for pre order at £80 uk

not sure on this one, at a guess i suppose you could,

again you will need to buy a dock, either the mini or battery dock then plug a dongle into the dock, this isnt currently avalible atm so keep an eye on what happens

5. Can I play swf files stored on the archos?

yes, the flash games seem to play much better than on the 605, but games where you need buttons are useless.

You can do it connecting any camera that connects to the DVR snap-on: http://archos.com/products/imt/archos_5 ... &p=dvrsnap

For example some digital photo cameras can be in that video capture mode and thus you can just use them as the camcorder and record and store the video on the Archos in Mpeg4 640x480 which may be more suitable for you.

You can also use any other camera that has a video output with that DVR Snap-on.

You could do this with the DVR station for the 605, but believe me its not a very comfortable playing environment! The screen is too small to do the games justice and its very hard to really get into a game playing it that way. Good for a novelty I suppose or at a stretch on the road in a hotel room or something, but not something Id want to use as a long term solution.

Might be a bit better on the Archos 7 with its bigger screen.

Wouldn't be too different than using it as a PSP would it? Thing with Archos 7 is that it might be too big to carry as an ipod like device, although it is more ideal for video/games. I will be looking into the DVR station. Having video output AND input is quite amazing
