1.8.38 beta release
Re: 1.8.38 beta release
I don't think that this problem is only wih the last firmware : my destkop was in portrait mode after removing not properly my Archos 5IT from the DVR Station.

Re: 1.8.38 beta release
can a two stream solution be possible? Vanilla and enhanced, or just vanilla on the side for those of us that want to look for it (in a footnote of a link). I just see this really becoming a (memory) issue for mor than it is worth.bragon wrote:there is no hardware accelerated opengl opt-in scheme possible: either we release the 3D or not.

what are you talking about or referencing here? This is super unclear, to me.Thocan wrote:I don't think that this problem is only wih the last firmware : my destkop was in portrait mode after removing not properly my Archos 5IT from the DVR Station.

Both in your case but please note that there are AC wall plug chargers that are 1A capable.map002 wrote:Both.bragon wrote:what is your definition of plugged into usb power? (usb cable on PC or usb to AC converter)
Tried it on a Micro USB AC wall plug at 500mA and then later on a powered USB hub where it is the only device. Same results.
Re: 1.8.38 beta release
thanks for reporting, we have been able to reproduce and it should be solved in following firmware release candidated.map002 wrote:A few things...
Another issue is that if the unit has been on for a few hours or so (usually with the AMC running some streaming Web Radio) and I then turn on USBNet and attempt to mount the device from my PC, the unit will lock up and become completely unresponsive. It takes a long (10 sec) press and hold to get it to power off. However, if I mount the device via USBNet mode right after powering it on, it works as expected.

My Android destkop was in portrait mode instead of classic landscape mode.
This bug is happened when I try to register a video with my DVR Station : I removed my Archos 5IT from the DVR Station without changing the output video mode and the screen became grey and blured. When it returned to normal, it was in portrait mode...
Re: 1.8.38 beta release
Sure there are, but that's over-spec, so I won't use them. I'll be happy to get one specifically for the Archos is that's going to be required to charge it via USB while using it from now on, just let me know!bragon wrote:Both in your case but please note that there are AC wall plug chargers that are 1A capable.map002 wrote:Both.bragon wrote:what is your definition of plugged into usb power? I will miss the ability to have the A5A plugged in via USBNet and use it all day while it remains at a full charge. But If you're saying if it's not going to be possible from this firmware forward, so be it.

Thanks for reporting: we have been able to reproduce.buster8079 wrote:Major issue... copilot GPS no longer works on this firmware. Doesn't boot past its startup screen, just hangs at that point or it bounces back to the home screen.
What's going on, Open GL doing this?
Re: 1.8.38 beta release
just saying that we are able to charge at 1A. If you do not want to use the opportunity it is your call.map002 wrote:Sure there are, but that's over-spec

Sure, I appreciate that. I just have a few devices that I use the chargers with and I want to be use them with all of my devices, so I try to stick with the USB spec for that reason.bragon wrote:just saying that we are able to charge at 1A. If you do not want to use the opportunity it is your call.

Re: 1.8.38 beta release
is it only me thats noticed that the machine wont charge past 96% even when on deepsleep with all apps stopped?.
my machine has been on its dock since sat and its failed to show full charge once.
not a big issue - but may cause a stink on the open forum, but it could be just my machine, anyone else?

Re: 1.8.38 beta release
hmmm, calibration is off from the looks of it, not a firmware issue.
i took it off charge and after a few mins it started to show 100%, plugged it back in and it flashed for about 1 min then went back to 96%, done the same thing and it showed 100% again.... strange.

Re: 1.8.38 beta release
Yup, does the same for me.
Also, YouTube still not working in the AMC. Any chance this will be fixed in the FW or are you waiting for Google to change something back?

Google changed something and we need to track it. It will not be fixed right away.map002 wrote:Also, YouTube still not working in the AMC. Any chance this will be fixed in the FW or are you waiting for Google to change something back?

Thanks for the response, Bragon! That's all I wanted to know!

Re: 1.8.38 beta release
Just for the sake of accuracy: you can use a 24A charger on a device, it is the device that draws current and needs to conform with USB spec. BTW many USB phone chargers go beyond 850mA. On archos device you can use 1A USB charger and will be able to charge quicker.map002 wrote:Sure, I appreciate that. Re: 1.8.38 beta release
With some apks, the system crashes when the notification bar appairs.
For example, the game Orbs.KnockOff : no problem with 1.7.99 firmware. With 1.8.38 the screen stay black.
ScummVM seems to have the same problem.

Just of a note of thanks and acknowledgement for effectively providing an opt-in scheme for these firmwares since June 29, 2010. Thanks.bragon wrote:there is no hardware accelerated opengl opt-in scheme possible: either we release the 3D or not.buster8079 wrote:People (who haven't had to already are really going to have to start managing their apps closely, otherwise crash, freeze, crash... is it possible to have the Open GL an opt-in type deal (i.e., activate it via a toggle check box)... I mean, I imagine some people will never need nor use any application that will take advantage of this, no? And for them, it would just be a risk to overall stability (with regards to lost memory)
