Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
There are several great apps and hard to limit them to 5, but here goes:
CoPilot Premium Sat Nav
CadreBible
Jigsaroid (Jigsaw Game)
MetOffice (UK Weather App)
NetFlix (Video Streaming)
My Next 5 would be:
News Republic
XPlane (Flight Simulator)
Pulse
Angry Birds
EuroSport
Sorry, I broke the rules with 10 apps.

Thanks to those who added their favourites here and sorry about the typos. I got Feedly now too and find it very good.
Another tip is to use www.bnwmovies.com for old films free (not an app but useful).

The camera is a bit rubbish, and I mainly do voice only, but it has worked in the past when I have used it.dblake wrote:Can you use video chat on Skype?cozon wrote:Based on what I use most (apart from the built in apps like browser/email/ect)

CoolReader - for my use it's the best, tried everything else
Kingsoft Office - free and does eveything I need
Aviary Photo Editor - it's like a default plugin missing, a must have!
Pixl-o-matic - adding some cool effects on your pix
Whatwhawhat studio suite - for web developers
Puddle Drops - live wallpaper works with any pic you have
Box - 50 Gb free on the android devices
eBay bookmark - placed on board works great
Jewels - simple game remembering the good old times
Ceramic destroyer - good game, not the best out there, but I play it a lot

Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
in no particular order, non gamer still finding feet on android tablet, currently exceeds all expectations and should only get better with time.
Guardian - how tablet publication should behave.
Tunein radio - perfect cover for the Iplayer not allowing live radio
Tv24.do.UK - best TV guide I have found, especially film, sport filters.
Greader
Iplayer - web based and a few synch probs, but very watchable.
Edit
Got to add tvcatchup (beta and UK only) at the expense of greader. There are lip synch issues as with BBC iplayer, but dependant on program very watchable.
Apologies but another edit.
Cricket scorer needs to be included, what to drop, decisions decisions, iplayer has to go, good as it is especially when hooked up to TV via HDMI.

Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
I love my tablet because it very comfortable to use. According from this source Beware late-night tablet browsing and click-to-purchase, tablets have also become more popular than laptops when used in bed, because they are easier to manipulate, generally give off less heat and have the kind of touch-screen functionality that modern, technologically savvy consumers have come to expect. With a Wi-Fi connection, any tablet is sleek, stylish and a window into the near-infinite world of online shopping.
Here are my top 5 apps in my tablet:
1. Youtube
2. Facebook
3. Kindle
4. Skype
5. Manga

Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
An early swag at my favorite free g9/ICS app downloads from Google or Amazon market:
1) Dolphin HD browser: Great performance and sensible options. Set it to desktop mode for non-mobile pages. Override gestures so that a swipe upwards scrolls to to bottom (useful in this forum) and a swipe down goes to top - just like an extension of momentum scrolling. Can move the gesture icon to lower right out of the way and easier for right hand. I set it to only play flash upon confirmation click, to stop loading high bandwidth ads.
2) Flash11: works fine for me
3) Adobe Reader: or whatever their simple but effective pdf reader is called.
4) MX Video Player: Zowie, this is the bulldozer of videoplay. It doesn't play any better than the default player, but it plays stuff your normal player cannot. Set it to software decode mode rather than HW and it will limp thru most any error ridden or weird formats.
5) A combo: start up Pandora on some music genre that has been calling to your wallet. Then invoke the new Angry Birds Space and flip it's mode to silent. Now you have pretty novel game experience (it's sort of in 2.5 dimensions) and at the same time can calm down the temptation to spend money on that music genre.
P.S. some newly downloaded things never work for me on ICS, like toggle widgets.
EDIT-> maybe a more needed 5) is studiokuma .nomedia manager which lets you block folders from being included in the media scan when they just include junk like sound effects for games. You probably want to block at least the notifications and gameloft folders if you have them, and then rerun media scan from settings/dev (takes a while). This will mean the default music and video apps won't list unintended files. Other apps may ignore the blocks, which you can take advantage of and make them "see" different media areas.

Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
Oh, I now see that if you download a widget that matches at least first name with an existing widget... well, things are all messed up unless you uninstall both, then reinstall the second from the all apps/widgets screen.viking wrote: P.S. some newly downloaded things never work for me on ICS, like toggle widgets.
I like small simple widgets that do a task with a tap instead of bringing up other screens, like the following (will be ambigous due to name collisions):
1) Wifi Toggle Widget (kill wifi when watching video for instance)
2) Brightness Level (quick taps to adjust to ambient light changes)
3) Dolphin Bookmark (quick access to your fav browser bookmarks)
4) Battery Solo Widget (shows exact battery level)
5) <music player widget> (of your choice, with compact stop/go/skip/name buttons)

Re: You top 5 apps for G9 tablets.
Hmmm, i mentioned angry birds space, but only now realized you have to hit all hidden golden eggs to progress to the last level. Also stupid zombies and hungry sharks work well, if you like comically dark games.
