Acessing PC e-mail from tablet?

Hoping someone here can help me with this.

I want to use my tablet to access my Outlook mail. It seems like such a common need. I heard MS opened the PST format for developers so I started out optimistic

I had thought I could find an app that would read the pst file from the drive on my PC... no luck .

Then I figured I could just setup an app that would read, but leave mail on POP account... no luck .

I don't need this working accross the Internet, though that would be a plus, I just need this working accross my home LAN.

I have found OutlookReflex, that relays the local Outlook database to a mobile device, but that turned out to be a paid service, and I'm a cheapskate.

Anyone know how to get something like K9 or MailDroid, or something like that working with a local PST file?

Where is your Outlook mail coming from? If it's coming from an Exchange server or an IMAP server, K9 mail ought to be able to connect to those. That's probably more straightforward than trying to read a local copy of an Outlook mailbox. K9 mail ought also to be able to leave mail on a POP server, if that's where your mail is coming from, but that's a pretty primitive way of doing things, and POP isn't designed for syncing.
