Having Big Problems Upgrading UrukDroid
I getting this message all time Installation of /data/UrukUpdate/zImage FAILED!. I'm on 1.5 and want to upgrade to 1.6RC3. All I wanted to do Is update. Using UrukConfig force update but still getting this error message. I'm using Archos 101 thanks.
Re: Having Big Problems Upgrading UrukDroid
As there is only the RC2 you probably meant that.
Clean /data/UrukUpdate
Then download UrukDroid-1.6RC2-update.tbz2 and put it in /data/UrukUpdate
Check that you have enough space left, at least 200MB before starting the procedure.

Up to RC4 now. Appears to be based on 2.4.80 (according to system info)

Re: Having Big Problems Upgrading UrukDroid
Hi,
Just tried upgrade to RC4 too (on Archos 101G8).
First downloaded file from repository using standard browser, only noticed when complete (approx 61MB) was shown as a txt file..?
Moved this to update folder anyway and file was found in UrukConfig "Force Update", only tablet then seemed to reboot into previous vanilla Archos/Droid OS (most of my apps gone, no UrukConfig etc).
Any ideas..??

If the standard browser doesn't recognise a file type, it'll change it to .txt, I've had that happed with .apk before. Download it with a computer next time. For now, reinstall Uruk 1.5 then upgrade again.pinkmoon wrote:Hi,

Thought as much (and just my luck; so near, yet so far).
Any idea if all my apps just installed will be OK afterwards..? Guess I'll soon see - but thanks for replying so quickly!

Re: Having Big Problems Upgrading UrukDroid
I have no idea on your apps, however, I found that downloading the update file to a PC works. For me, I also found that the update would not occur if I transferred the file directly from the PC to the update folder on the Archos. What DID work was to copy the update file (for me it was 1.6RC4) to one of the downloads folders (so I could find it). Then using the file app with SU permissions I moved the update file to the the update folder. As soon as it finished moving UD started the upgrade. Just put the *.tbz2 file in there and it should take off on its own.

It's quite possible your apps will be back. Otherwise, they will be waiting in the Market under "Not Installed"
