Video on how to remove the soft buttons.

Well I did some searching and found this little trick to completely remove the soft buttons on the right side giving you a full screen.

WARNING!!
Installing the SDE software and rooting your device could void your warranty!! Rooting your device also could "brick" it causing it to become useless. So please be careful.

1. Power on your device using the Developers Edition selection.
2. You must install the SDE software and do a permanent root on your device to give you full read/write access.
3. Download and install both Button Savior & Super Manager from the market both are free.
4. Open Super Manager and select "File Explorer".
5. Select "back up one level folder" do this twice.
6. Scroll down and select "system".
7. Long press on "board_properties"
8. From the menu choose "rename".
9. Delete the "s" and replace it with any letter you wish.
10. Tap on the "ok"
11. Back out to main screen.
12. Reboot using the Developers Edition selection.[/color]

Nice, better than putting the buttons in the top menu and having button savor both at the same time.

Installing the SDE is not void the warranty. This has been discussed to death. I appreciate the info, but please don't give false information about the warranty.

The only way the warranty is gone is if somehow you brick your device on the software side. Hardware problems are still covered under warranty.

It's not really false info. Just repeating what Archos' own website states about the warranty. It may not be voiding the entire warranty, but still should warn people that the warranty will be voided (even if just the software part) if you are giving instructions that cause it to get voided.

I don't want people to think that I'm saying rooting holds no possible warranty issues, but it does not explicitly void the warranty. Rooting is a great (and easy) option, but I do think that it should only be done by people that are willing to accept some risk from doing it. I just don't want to scare people away from rooting because of things like USB failures, which would still be covered even after a root.
