Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
No, i removed 10.1 first and it did not work. Had to reinstall 10.1 and then download and install 10.2. That worked like a charm. Flash is great now!!reddevilvs wrote:Thank u for posting this! May be a novice question but should i uninstall the 10.1 flash app from the market first? Thanks

Great post mate, this is worlds better for me running Dolphin HD and 10.2
Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
I've installed 10.2 over 10.1 and it works better than 10.1 from market or droid version.
Tnx for sharing!

I did delete 10.1 before installing 10.2 and had no problems.scottmcp432 wrote:No, i removed 10.1 first and it did not work. Had to reinstall 10.1 and then download and install 10.2. Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
When I deleted 10.1 first I no longer saw the "arrow" in the flash "boxes" just a blue questionmark? Flash would not even try to play and I do not know why. Anyway, it works fine now and I'm happy with it.deet wrote:I did delete 10.1 before installing 10.2 and had no problems.scottmcp432 wrote:No, i removed 10.1 first and it did not work. Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
Folks, I see all the positive comments: "a huge improvement," "great increase in performance," "the best yet..."
Does this mean it works flawlessly? Drops a few frames? Depends on the site?
I ask because I am looking at buying the A70 (so can't try it out yet myself) and flash is an important consideration for me. All this to say, a little more descriptive info from you very kind people would be greatly appreciated!
Thx in advance.

Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
I wonder if this new version will be available to us from the Market when it is officially released?

I tried that 10.2 Flash on my A70S. I was not impressed. Browser crashed. All the usual nonsense.

Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
I have loaded this version on my 101-16, and it does seem to be a big improvement over 10.1.
That said, I can say without hesitation that it is still NOT perfect. Although it is smoother than 10.1, I still see mild stuttering in most videos.
I have also attempted to load Farmville, which is, admittedly, a serious memory hog, and it results in a force-close of the browser (both stock browser and Dolphin Mini).
Disclaimer: This is just my experience - your mileage may vary.
My Archos: 101-16, Firmware 2.1.08, 32MB swap (not reset after firmware update)

10.2 seems to be an improvement for me as well. Videos play smoother (not smooth, but at least watchable now). And the browser no longer crashes for me.

Still cannot do ESPN3.com, though I cannot say that is a Flash issue for sure. It is a very entailed site so it may be beyond the capabilities of the device.

Re: Flash 10.2 - Works on Gen 8
Loaded 10.2. Here are my observations for content in stock browser with one window open.
Flash UI is much more responsive when it comes to using menu buttons and such. However, the more flash intensive the website it is, the more laggy it becomes and could potentially crash.
Flash content seems to load much faster now, especially when loading videos.
For video streaming, its a mixed bag.
Crackle.com is not viewable since after the update. However, the daily show crashed the browser before loading up, now streams well but isn't consistently smooth. Still watchable though.
All news websites have worked for me, including a live Al Jazeera feed, and now work much better!
CBS.com works nicely. It would crash before it loaded up pre-update. I can even watch a full episode of content in full screen although it isn't consistently smooth. Can't wait to see if I can stream March Madness on this!
Fox.com is now a joy. It was usuable before but none of the flash menus worked properly. Watching flash video such as the Simpsons, which was previously a slide show in full-screen, is watchable, but still not consistently smooth.
Everything else that worked previously still works; even better now with the more responsive Flash menu UI.
Overall, a big improvement but still not perfect. I think we are really close now to what I expected flash should be like on an android device, especially my 101. Very happy with this update. Hopefully, the official 10.2 release on March 18th will be even better. Very interested in seeing what Archos will be able to do.
Edit: Archos 101, 2.1.08 FW, 64mb swap enabled

Adobe announced that it will be released as the official 10.2 Flash build for all mobile devices on March 18th. It will be available on the Android Market.glowcohen wrote:I wonder if this new version will be available to us from the Market when it is officially released?
That is, if they keep their word.

Try Comedy Central and The Colbert Report. Also crashed the Browser at CNN. Really, Flash sucks on Archos Android and is not ready even for geeks let alone the masses. I tried to watch and SNL clip: voice moved while video stalled.MarcusMarcus wrote:10.2 seems to be an improvement for me as well. Videos play smoother (not smooth, but at least watchable now). Comedy Central worked flawlessly for me - probably the smoothest flash video I've seen on the Archos.AllenPapapetrou wrote:Try Comedy Central and The Colbert Report. Also crashed the Browser at CNN. CNN use to crash, but works really well on 10.2.
The Colbert Report (through The Comedy Network in Canada) worked very well, but the player looks like it's floating on the entire page (it's not part of the page, it's like a pop-up player - this could be normal). It ran very smooth and didn't crash with 10.2.
Oddly enough, the only problems I seem to be having with the new flash is youtube videos - which never gave me a problem
in the past.
UPDATE: I received an email while watching the Colbert video (in that floating window described above) and the video continued to play in the background. In fact, I'm using different apps and the video is still playing. I can re-enter the browser and pause it, etc., but it's cool to have video's playing in the background. Maybe this is a new feature
