mobile phone app
Hi,
since tethering with my Nokia N82 works fine, I'm wondering if I can replace my N82 completely (as long as my A43it can reach the N82 via bluetooth). In other words: I want to use the A43it like a mobile phone. Technically it should be possible, because my car can also use the N82's mobile phone functions, so I guess they're available by bluetooth.
So... is there an app for that?

Re: mobile phone app
You should be able to Skype from your Archos, but it sounds like you want to do more than that, right?

Yes. Skype works, but I also want to use GSM.
Re: mobile phone app
For what since talk is covered with skype. As for texting, most carriers let you text the phone from an e-mail address (EX Verizon I believe is [email protected] where X's are the phone number), just have your friend send you a text to your e-mail and it should have their texting e-mail. Data should be covered, so what's left?
Re: mobile phone app
For texting you can just use google voice. I have texts through gv going to phone and archos.

Re: mobile phone app
The mobile phone function is left.
Code: Select all
the Skype way:
[A43] <=(wlan)=> AP/Router <=(dsl)=> Internet, Skype <=(telephone cable)=> telephone
the phone function I want to have:
[A43] <=(bluetooth)=> Nokia mobile phone <=(gsm/mobile network)=> mobile provider <=(telephone cable)=> telephone

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think what thorstenhirsch wants is the 43 to act like an expensive bluetooth headset for his Nokia phone.
Dunno if it is possible....

Here in Germany we have the pleasure to see...

Google Voice is not available in your country.

Re: mobile phone app
Ahh that sucks man, sorry to hear that
Re: mobile phone app
I use AIM for texting! It works great.

You may want to check the Huwaie Ideo S7. It does have phone functions....and GSM. You can get rid of your phone totally..I tested it for a day...Very loud...I like that. Coupled with a bluetooth headset and you have a phone and a tablet.
Unforutnately, tmobile USA now if preventing you to use the data plan if you use a sim card with voice plan.
people were able to use the same sim for data and voice just like if it's oversized phone (tablet).
But I liked it. It does hav 500 MB...no worry about the RAM. But I decided it's not for me because the screen size. For the same money $300 in US I can get the Archos 101. I prefere the 101. But it's a good alternative specially I liked the phone function. You can get rid of your cell phone all together.
