Testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space inside
Testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space inside
Since we tested the initial beta firmware of 2.2 these past 3 weeks, now there is a new super stable fast beta testing firmware.
Cajl found this in the live chat over at http://jbmm.fr
App Space is now full Nand, 8GB, 16GB, 250GB, whatever, you can use it all for applications space.
The firmware seems not buggy at all, I can't find bugs. So I guess it is near.
Just saying..

Oh my godApp Space is now full Nand
Thats the best news I have heard all day
I have been moaning about the limited appspace in another thread and asking for Archos to fix this - and they did
On top of that I am receiving my A70 tomorrow
What a day today - thx for the information

PS: I hear you are part Danish and spend time in Denmark also - I could allways offer you a beer one day if youd like to talk gadgets with a fellow gadget freak

Yeah I'm in K├©benhavn, testing secret froyo firmwares here. Perhaps we can meet at castle of the queen or something at some point.
Re: I am testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space ins

OK just a sec, I can't seem to move all apps in Internal Storage. I need to test this more. I think this might be that Archos allows for internal storage to be used instead of MicroSD, or maybe as well as MicroSD, I dunno.

What would you like me to test in a new video?
I just tested Skype, now it's absolutely perfect awesome. No volume probs anymore.
I'm installing Asphalt 5. Going to do some playing there.
Show what that Applications Management to "Internal Storage" is all about.
I need to test all the Flash in the world. Or more importantly, see if specific Flash apk is needed for smoothest flash video playback, perhaps I need to find the Flash apk for Droid X most similar hardware.
Which other Flash is best to test?
The browser is good and fast now, it was with the initial beta 2.2, but now seems even smoother.
SMB Samba file sharing is faster, I need to test all the MKV hd high profile high bitrates now, see if they all work.
Also test MKV high profile high bitrates in general, what works and what doesn't yet, both on LCD and HDMI.

Could you make an SD-card in EXT3 format and test out some HD-movies (over 4GB)? I know some people are concerned about that.
Also, can we get a quick Fps2D test? I just want to know if it's a capped frame rate, or if it's uncapped. I would assume uncapped, but a test would be nice.
Thanks Charbax

Is there noticeable improvement regarding remote access with the new firmware? Saw your test with the older firmware and it was laggy.

Re: I am testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space ins
YouTube I guess will be the most common flash that would be used in browser.
How about 720p video over wifi? Be interesting to see if there's an improvement there.
Cheers.

Re: I am testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space ins
Flood it with app installing to see how much it can handle before slow down. I like to install alot to my 101 so it's the only thing i concern about. And where will the apps be stored on internal memory?
Re: I am testing new Froyo firmware, unlimited app space ins
Try loading JimCarrey.com
It will load slow, the page is HUGE. That is a pretty abusive Flash test

Not to toot my own horn, but from what I gather, my squeaky wheel efforts paid off

MAJOR kudos to Archos!!!!!!!
Yes, I will have to return now

I shall compare the Gtablet and 101 and see which to keep.
Charby, if I was near you, I would kiss you on the mouth

The one issue though is the full speed PSX emulation for 3D games and fast Flash performance are nice with the Gtablet. I already know the 101 will not be as nice for those functions since the Droid X has same chipset and is not much better than my Incredible (Flash is good on 3630- just not as fast as Tegra 2). PSX is pretty good too on Droid X, but 3D games are half speed compared to Gtablet.
I know I am being presumptous, but do people not think that my efforts of saturation about this is not part of the reason for the storage change? Hmmmmm?

Charby, some apps will not move to apps2sd- this is not a fault of the Archos FW, but app scripting and Android 2.2 framework.
