Battery for AV500 (80gb)

Post by gmc205 »

Hi, I just recently got an Archos AV500 and I noticed it loses its charge rather quickly. I did a test yesterday - watched 2 movies, total run time 3hrs 20 mins, and the battery drained fully and the unit conked out. So really I think I need a new battery but I cant seem to find one for the 80gb model. I saw some for the 100gb model on ebay but the colour was black instead of brushed metal, one seller said it was compatible, another said probably not. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement battery for the 80gb model?

Also my TV dock doesnt work, I did record however using the extra AV cables supplies with the unit and the little AV adaptor, but the dock is definitely defective. Does anyone know if Archos repairs these or if there is another company that does? Because it seems that in order to record programs using the scheduler you need the dock as it has the infrared input which is needed to control the satellite box.

Thanks in advance.

The title is for 5100 (100G model) and 580 (80G model). Only the 30G version had the small hard drive, with different battery. From 60G upwards they all used 2.5in hard drives, so the batteries were all the same, 2 types, the standard as supplied, and there was a thicker double life available, but that did not fit well in standard leather cases etc.
