A70b (v2) screen protectors

Post by paulus3476 »

Just be aware, the visible screen area is slightly smaller than the old A70, therefore the screen protectors don't fit 'as is', the difference in size is that slight that it is actually very difficult to neatly trim off the excess - my advise would be to wait for the correct one.

Can someone suggest a place on eBay or Amazon where I can get decent screen protector for original A70 IT which just covers screen. Got some from eBay which were stated as 7" but they cover the entire topface of device! My scissors are just not up to scratch for cutting them!

Hi all,

any update on this? mine is on its way, but I need to find a protector that fits without modification, largely due to being lazy and cack handed.

I can recommend Lexerd screen protectors which I've purchased several times on Amazon. Order usually arrives in the mail in about four days. They fit the A70IT perfectly and you can hardly tell there is a screen protector. Only problem I've had with hem is when I accidentally cut a piece off the end when I was opening the package with a scissors.

Double pack: http://www.amazon.com/Lexerd-Internet-T ... 602&sr=8-2

Thanks for this, but as the title says, I'm getting the 70b it, which this thread suggests has a slightly different screen size. Anyone tried these on a 70b it?

I lack the manual dexterity myself, but perhaps you can cut down a Lexerd protector to size? I really like the anti-glare flavor of the Lexerd for my 70IT. The swiping action is smooth as silk. One might even say "like buttah". Capacitive response is excellent. If you do lack the dexterity, I have another suggestion in a second.

Anyway, having read here in this thread that the 70b's screen was smaller, I shopped around for alternatives while waiting for my 70b to be delivered. I bought a Zagg Invisibleshield for the Dell Streak, but found when I got it that it's

1) really intended to cover the entire front of the device, and
2) Enormously complicated to install for my taste.

Didn't even open it beyond the instructions and trying to wrap my head around the adhesive solution and the waiting period. It was $3. I threw it out.

Something else I got was a product from Fellowes:

http://www.amazon.com/Fellowes-Writerig ... 252&sr=8-9

(This is the product made for 10.1" tablets, as indicated on the front of the packaging. Careful when buying their "universal"-named products - most are actually for smaller, phone-sized devices. You can also pick these 10.1" sheets up at Radio Shack.)

The only major downside: you'll need a SHARP pair of scissors and a good eye. There is a finely printed numbered grid on the adhesive backing. Lay the thing on top of your Archos, note the numbers of the lines which will give you the fit you desire, make your two cuts, put the scissors away, peel and apply. Your scissors never need to be in the same room as your tablet. I've applied protectors to about a half-dozen toys, and the actual fit-inducing part for me is once the adhesive is exposed. It's like objects come flying out of other rooms to attach to the sticky side. I hate that part. But the Fellowes process was quick and painless. (I used latex gloves of course.) Now, there's a minor downside: it's neither as silky-smooth to swipe as the Lexerd, and IMHO less sensitive to capacitive touch than the Lexerd. (But I may be comparing apples and oranges - perhaps the 70b is less touch-sensitive than the 70IT regardless of the cover I use?? No idea. Smoothness is definitely a function of your protector - sensitivity, it's hard to tell when you're mixing like this.) Maybe not a real dealbreaker, but if you're used to super-smooth action, you may never get used to the Fellowes.

But here's the thing: after I cut my Fellowes protector to size, I should have HELD ON to the lined grid which peels off instead of crumpling it up and trashing it. I threw out a perfectly sized cutting guide for .... oversized Lexerd protectors! D'Oh! Fortunately, I still have one unit in my Fellowes double-pack, so next time... :)

i can vouch for lexerd as well, best screen protectors out there, shipping to Uk takes about 10 days but well worth it.
