ICS/Android 4.0 custom firmware

Post by tymchn »

Does anyone know of anybody working on a new firmware for the Arnova 10 G2 now that the source code for ICS has been released? I would happily test it on my device and offer feedback if possible :-)

Hey check this link http://androidcommunity.com/chip-maker-rockchip-claims-worlds-first-android-4-0-ics-tablet-20111125/ :)
It seems that first ICS powered tablet from Rockchip will be available soon. I know I saw somewhere that one guy already asked Arnova about ICS official ROM and they reply to him that they are "not able to provide such information" :)
So do you guys think in case Arnova will not port ICS, community will handle it?
I secretly hope so :)

Wow wow this looks awesome!

This surely is the RK2918 running Ice Cream Sandwich, I think that probably means that the whole Arnova G2 series can get the Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update within a month from now.

Don't be too positive on that. 8)

Hi guys,
tablet with ICS was officially announced by Rokchip http://www.rock-chips.com/index.php?do=news&id=135.
So around Christmas we can maybe have ROM dump from that device :)

Or maybe somebody already working on ICS port? Don't be shy and let us know! ;)

So, any news on ICS for the G2? It's quite a while ago people were saying we could expect it within a month  :doubt:

Check some of my latest Rockchip RK2918 ICS videos: http://armdevices.net/category/chip-provider/rockchip/

I think it's up to Archos, Rockchip to make a bit more work, fully optimize it so it's smooth and stable, then release the G2 firmware.

Seems like the first RK2918 tablet running ICS has shipped in China:

To me it seems like we should be really happy if we get ICS before the 3rd quarter of this year, to be honest.

Likely February or March, I think Archos is ramping up the Arnova G2 line and it's very successful I think.
