How to backup B4 firmware update question?

Post by sadsack »

Hi all,

I've recently taken hold of an Arnova 10 G2 8gb, and from what I have read it seems Archos recommend I do a firmware update, this isn't a problem as i did a 10 G2 4gb for someone at xmas.

But I have read that after doing a f/w update you may loose some of the built in widgets/addons. So I was wondering does anyone know of a program or a way of being able to make a back of these items before doing the f/w update.

Also as the manual isn't the most generous in giving the required information, is there a way of being able to find out what f/w is already on the unit, either by connection to a p.c. or by finding out within the unit itself.

Would really appreciate some help & guidance here chaps....

I used a combo of es file explorer (app mgr mode) and some other backup app which were both incomplete but gave me enough to fall back on the couple apps that were lost. The arctools forum now has a link that supposedly has all the apps. I think you can see your version number somewhere in settings, but not sure. More details on the two "sticky" topics at the top with an "i" symbol.

Thank you for the reply Viking......

and sorry for the long delay in getting a reply back to you......

I have searched here and also googled but cannot seem to find the "Arctools Forum" you mentioned, the one that has the link to the tools that may or may not be lost during an update, could you kindly lend a hand a give a link to the particular page mentioned.

Thank you for your time and patience

sadsack..
