Hello
I have a question for the GPS. My Arnova 7c g2 does not see the GPS satellites, even though the application test shows that the GPS is turned on. Compass works. What can I do and do not carry the unit in service?

That is correct. GPS won't work on arnova 7c g2. This is because radio (3g, 2g and wifi) interfere with gps hardware. This is what I did to make GPS work. First install GPS test application. (Try to ask someone with working market or Google it. Start the application, settings, clear AGPS. then activate Airplane mode ON, by long press power button (hardware button). Then go outside, somewhere where is only sky above you. Maybe to sit in your car.
Let the arnova find satellites, at list 7 of them. May be a half of hour. When your arnova find satellite lock, this is it. Every next time finding lock last about 20 seconds or less. Remember GPS won't work when Airplane mode is OFF. (it may work but for short period of time, few minutes). I think new firmware will resolve this problem.
Let me know does this work for You.
Regards

The GPS on this Arnova is an assisted GPS, it means that the DATA (3G or WIFI) is required to get an accurate position using the GPS in google maps, and moreover the data is required to use an application like google maps.

It is the same thing than for a smartphone, gps is more accurate when the data is active.

so is there real gps hardware in G2 series or not ? even the mentioned a-gps should have such, but there isn't any in specs.
google maps with cellular network data may work even without gps (inaccurate position)
