Note that this is not my video, I just came across it.
But I am thinking to buy one when it comes out.
Cheers.

Re: Anyone other user have this screen defect?
I uploaded that vid. You can see my comments in the thread "G9 Hands-On Look with Video and CF Benchmark" on this forum.
I'm currently waiting for a response from Craig, and I guess I'll then have to contact Archos France. I seriously hope they will send me a new (not defective) tablet based on this video. If I have to send this tablet back first and then wait for weeks while they sort it out, I'm gonna be pissed. I need a tablet now, that's why I ordered this one and did not wait for the "Turbo - 16GB" version. If I have to spend my time and money sending this one to France and then wait for the arrival of a new device - all because of Archos' poor QC - that would really, you know, suck.

Looks like the battery's hitting the back of the LCD again. I would have thought they've fixed that in the manufacturing process by now considering their emphasis for thinness.

Tested. They suck at playing 720p.SvenC wrote:buy an apple.....![]()
Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
Yup. But it is more pronounced than I have ever seen before. Even placing the device gently on a table causes this .-(Looks like the battery's hitting the back of the LCD again
Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
I just got my tablet this morning. I notice the same issue although it does not seem to be as bad as yours.
Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
It seems build quality really suffers when they attempt to make these tablets as affordable as possible. My A70 had several dead pixels out of the box, and sometimes the battery refused to charge. Now I feel kinda stupid that I gave Archos another chance this generation - but I have contacted support, and maybe they have a satisfactory solution to my problem. You never know...

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
I just got my G9 80 yesterday and I have this issue too in a mild form.
Mild or not - this is hardly acceptable.
I will post that YouTube link at the beginning of this thread to Craig and see what he says

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
Please fix it ASAP, I really want to buy this G9 when it comes out.

i want to buy it when the turbo comes out hope that is fixed then
Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
is this occurring with normal use? (when held normally and touched like a capacitive screeen and not crappy resistive
)

Yes, those who are having issues can you please describe in more detail:
Is this from pressure you are applying?
Or does that wave appear randomly without touch?
Thank you.

Tap your fingernail against your LCD monitor. It looks like that.[email protected] wrote:Yes, those who are having issues can you please describe in more detail:

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
Hi Craig - thanks for fast reply - it is as Oax and others are reporting - "even very light pressure on the screen causes a large collection of pixels in two different spots to be "squashed"
Now in my case and others - it is not as extreme as Oax shows in his YouTube video - here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FK37WbzToo
So - you touch the front of the screen - most visible if the screen background is black - you see a pixel splodge or little cloud appear where you touched the screen - the analogy would be what it is like to touch a resistive screen where the plastic layer (or whatever is used for the resistive screen layer) - on a resistive screen you would notice the plastic layer 'depress'
And another interesting discover - re OMAP 4 Quadrant versus Acer Iconia 100 Tegra 2 -
G9 80 Quadrant Result vs Acer Iconia A100 Tegra 2 Result
1. Both devices booted from cold
2. No apps running except those loaded at boot time by the device
3. Ran Full Benchmark on both
4. Tegra 2 Acer Iconia A100 - 7" running Honeycomb 3.2 - Quadrant Result 1841
5. G9 80 - running Honeycomb 3.2 FW 3.2.22 - Quadrant Result 1519
I was surprised by these results as I was under the impression that the TI OMAP 4 was faster than the Tegra 2.
Again Craig - many thanks for the work you do - I know how much work this is for you and all of us do appreciate you!

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
I'd like to know if it also happen when you handle the device in your hand.
On my side, I seen the same issues with some screen on laptops or netbooks when you press around the screen or on the back on the screen.

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
When you touch the screen close to the affected area, it will happen. I could probably live with that, though. The real problem is that even slight pressure on the back of the device causes this as well, which means the effect is almost constant, depending on how you hold the tablet at that moment. Also, placing the device on a flat surface will cause it as well, as shown in my youtube video.
Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
I'm getting it. Puttin pressure on the screen anywhere causes it to happen to a lesser degree. Any pressure on the back in the lower central area and it happens as on the video.
And when I gesture from the top of the screen downwards, I get a triangular ghost effect which follows my finger.

Re: Any other user have this screen defect?
Exactly - very annoying. Plus, it can't be good for the screen in the long run, right?
