Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit

Hi,
according to Google News, Nexus Prime was presented today also with technical specifications.
It will have Dual Core 1,2 GHz processor (OMAP 4460) and will be available worldwide from 1.November.
Soooo, Omap 4460 is in the market.. High probability it could be also in Archos 101 G9 Turbo.. Just later on changed by firmware to 1.5Ghz?
Do you agree?

OMAP 4430 is made for operating up to 1GHz and the 4460 for up to 1.5GHz, so according to this it would need to be the 4460 for it not violating TIs specs (warranty).
But we will not be 100% until someone does a teardown of a 1.2GHz version, or anyone from Archos makes it public.
I could of course be mistaken or missed something...
Try to find from a manufacturers homepage showing in black on white that there is an OMAP 4430 running at 1.2GHz.
Because IÔÇÖm having trouble finding any reference directly from Toshiba or Motorola, stating that they are using an OMAP 4430 at 1.2GHz... Or even TI for that matter...

IÔÇÖm not saying that it is not possible; IÔÇÖm just saying that the internet blogs shows a strong tendency to only do copy-paste information without quoting creditable sources, just quoting each other.

Although TI might not update their web pages daily, but I still think they are the best source for OMAP related information...
So in my world there is no conclusive proof that there even is an OMAP 4430 at 1.2GHz...

Not such a big supprise to see that it is real, but it does make me a bit sad that the 1.2GHz probably will be the OMAP 4430.
So it looks like I'll get to keep my money a few weeks/months longer...
And while I'm speculating I also guess this makes the chance to see the 4470 on the G9 about zero.
Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
I'm not sure if you guys want to buy tablet.
4430 1Ghz not goood
4430 1,2Ghz not good enough
4460 1,2Ghz still not good
4460 1,5Ghz better but still can be not fast enough...
There will be always something better and faster.
Now I type this message from my 4430 1Ghz G9...maybe not fastest but in my hands & looking at archos.com site 101 G9 is out of stock for now

Are you using the 80 or 101? If 101, could you tell us how it feels? Lag factor? Video playback? Internet surfing? Market access? THanks!hubu wrote:I'm not sure if you guys want to buy tablet.

Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
It works beautifull
.
I live in the Netherlands, this is my first android device and first tablet (101):
I too have market problems.
Video's plays nice, haven't done any extensive testing, but no problems here. Altough I did test some movies via wifi which are located at my local server. I experience an obvious lag with Big bug bunny 1080P_h264. I tested it again when it was stored on the tables own storage and there was absolutely no lag. It was a .mov file
It creeks a bit around one point but there is really no good reason to hold your tablet at that point. In other words no real problem.
Surfing is a bit slower then on the computer. It takes about 3 seconds to load facebook.com about 10 seconds to load cnn.com, and 5 when reloaded. ( these test where done while copying data via usb)

@TME
I have 101, it's nice. No problems with movies, internet browsing.
Only issue market problems but archos works & soon should make firmware update.
Battery life too short: 6hours with wifi &internet browsing only

Voor de Nederlanders onder ons:
De Phone house schijnt hen te hebben. 80G9 8GB voor 199, 101G9 8GB voor 249. 250Gb 101 schijnt voor 299EUR over de toonbank te gaan. Iemand die langs kan gaan?
MM heeft overigens 80G9 8GB voor 239/249EUR.

Re: Archos G9 1.2Ghz October and 1.5Ghz December availabilit
Anyone have thoughts on how the battery performance will be affected by the 1.2 GHz to 1.5 GHz difference? If there's a noticeable increase in battery life on the 1.2 GHz, I think it might be worth getting over the 1.5 GHz model, especially since I don't plan on doing anything incredibly processor intensive... mostly web browsing, music playing, and some video playing (but mostly standard def stuff).
