Best Free Keyboard App?

I'm a cash strapped college student who received a A101 for Christmas and I hate, Hate, HATE the default Android Keyboard. The offset space bar is driving me insane. I also have a Moto Droid and have no such problem on it because the space bar is centered. Anyone have some recommendations for the best (preferably) free keyboard app out there to replace the default?

There are many posts on this topic. I use Tswipe. It is very customizable, provides both suggestions and swype capabilities.

I use sogou input

it has Chinese input, but the English alone is pretty nice.
