AVI (XVID, DIVX) playback

Post by psyghotic »

Hi all,

I am planning to buy an archos 101 internet tablet.
But I read there is no divx, xvid support.
I am sure a lot of people allready asked this.
But I don't have the time looking through the forum as I am always travelling.
That is why I want to buy this tablet.

But 1 condiction for buying one is that there is divx and xvid playback.
subquestion : When inserting an usbkey, can it also play movies, music from this media, or needs the media be on the sd card or device itself.

I am travelling again next week, so before that time I would like to buy one.

Thanks in advance.

A common misconception because it isn't listed in the features. I've got a lot of videos and it plays back divx and xvid just fine.

If it didn't support divx, we'd be hearing complaints about people not being able to watch pron on it.

As for the usb data. It works with harddrives, thumbdrives, cellphones, etc. The only pre-requisite is that it has to be formatted with FAT, a common file system for memory cards and thumbdrives.

XVID and variations of these 4 letters are just "nicknames" for MPEG4, we do support MPEG4...

to be clear they are generally mpeg4 in an avi container which is what most android devices have issue with. its a vailid question before buying, but yes the archos handles mpeg4 in avi containers.
