kernel version vesus version reported in device info

Post by stack445 »

Hi all, new user here. My workplace switch to exchange 2010 and im not able to connect to it anymore. After digging around, seem fix should have been in 2.2.

My question is, in terminal, the uname -a turn out a kernel version 2.6.29, wich according to wikipedia is android 2.1, but in tha about device info, it said that it`s firware 2.3.26 ( Android 2.2.1 ) .

So what is it ?
id like to know before looking into the fact that maybe they are using a self-signe certificate that is not accepted.

Ps: Iphone did not even gave me a hint of a problem....

Kernel version has nothing (well... very little) to do with the OS version.

The Firmware version (this is a number that has NOTHING to do with the OS or Kernel, it's only Archos' build number) is 2.3.26 (current)

The Operating System version (this is the Google version number) is 2.2.1

The Kernel version (this is what Android is built upon (LINUX Kernel)) is 2.6.29-omap1

I think what he means is that Android 2.1 (2.0 and 1.6 also) are supposed to be based on kernel 2.6.29 and that Android 2.2 is supposed to be based on kernel 2.6.32. He is saying he is on firmware 2.3.26 (Android 2.2.1) so it should have kernel 2.6.32 but it is only showing as kernel 2.6.29.

So my problem with connecting to exchan2010 should not be because of this right ? Did someone manage to have it connect back to a exchange 2010 backend with those specific version ?
