I've been lurking on here. I just bought one from Newegg for $274.99. It shows as 299.99, but at checkout it's $274.99.

It shows as $274.99 on Newegg now. One of my coworkers wanted to buy 2 of these for his nephews so thanks for the heads up.

Same thing with the 250, shows as 369 on search pages, but the product page has 349.

How low have these things gone and what are my chances to get the same?

I ordered a 250G model the other day from Comp-U-plus for $317 plus shipping USPS Priority $14 I think.

http://www.compuplus.com/Pda/Archos-250GB-Black-Internet-Tablet-1179946.html?t=archos+70&track=searchViewed

Need to watch though, it sometimes bounces in price, I waited 2 days and it dropped back down to $317.

Comp-U-Plus is also a well respected vendor, and they are in stock....

Why does newegg state the 8gb archos 70 as a ereader in the receipt? I didn't think the ereader was out yet? Have others purchased the 8gb archos 70 from newegg and vouch that this isn't the ereader but the archos 70? I of course still got it and will find out in a few days..

Pretty much everyone seems to have these miscategorized. E-reader, laptop, netbook, pda, ipad, etc. Probably nothing to worry about.

I'll let you know when I receive mine from Newegg.

It's been held up by 'Adverse Weather' for a few days according to UPS. It was supposed to be here last Friday.

Great news!

Unfortunately, I tried the 20% discount trick (2 pages back) with no luck. Anyone get it to work? Tried firefox & chrome with no luck.

Re: ARCHOS HATES MONEY AND CANADA!

Post by santa »

Great news! The 70's are available.

But not to Canadians.

I went to order my second 70, because I am happy with mine and my wife wants one.

Here is the message I get when going through the order on the website:
"Archos is temporarily unable to accept orders for devices from Canadian Customers. We hope to resume selling devices in Canada, but we cannot fill your order."

And then the 70 is removed from my order.

I AM PISSED!

However, the remedy is easy. I will never buy archos again. EVER!
I guess my money isn't good enough for them, so I don't feel the need to give it to them.

The forum here has been great (mostly as a lurker), but I had advocated for people in other places to buy Archos (see here: http://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/63318-android-tablet-thread/page__view__findpost__p__3358898), but I am now going to edit that post to change my feelings toward this company. What a joke.

Bye archos...you've pushed me into the boat of many people that think this company isn't built for the long run, and you've showed your true colours now. Never support a company that doesn't want a customers money, there is obviously something else going on, and it's not good.

That's too bad. I'm sure there's a reason for it, I wouldn't take it out on them, especially if you love your 70 so much that you want a second.

I got the same message as santa and archos.ca isn't giving any useful updates as to if or when they might start shipping their preorders. Boo.

It's not in stock but look at their price for the 250GB they must have transposed the price with the 8GB A70, they did confirmed it has a 250GB hard drive...and that they don't ship to canada...
