Do you know which transcend card reader it was? Can you find a link on Amazon? I need to buy one anyway that can read SDHC so I don't have to connect my Camera to my PC by cable everytime.

Depends. There are Hard Drives (usually the non portable one) which already have an external power supply cable you plug into an electric wall plug. Then you will only need one regular USB cable usually mini-B to Standard A male.. But if it's a one of those small portable drive, usually they do not come with power supply cable. The you will need either one USB Y cable.
You also need the microAB to female A adapter to begin with
Seems this continue to be confusing for some. I will post some pictures for all.

Could someone please test if it works with digital cameras or a mobile android phone? They are always self-powered, so I have high hopes...

Yes......that's the cable I posted....you will need that combined with any other cable coming with your other device with type A male..hdd,camera,....read this all thread for more. I will post pictures later....now that's for host mode....for slave mode you only need the one which come with your archos
Also it works with battery powered devices....tested my cell...

It says it's Micro USB OTG so it should work and it's only $4.60 with free shipping

I bought an USB OTG Host cable from Hong Kong (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 1976wt_798). It's supposed to be a replacement for CA-157.

Despite the Micro-B plug it works with my 4GB pendrive and two old mp3 players - A70 recognizes it as an external drive and I'm able to browse and copy the files.

A funny thing with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ2 camera - when connected to A70, it behaves like connected to a TV (asks to choose between PAL/NTSC, enters preview mode) - and the tablet doesn't react at all.

I also tried to connect my sister's Samsung S5230 (Tocco Lite / Avila / Star) and my HTC Magic with CyanogenMod 6.1 - no luck, nothing happens.

Can anyone tell if this adapter should work?

http://www.meritline.com/usb-female-to-micro-usb-male-adapter---p-51507.aspx?source=fghdac

I like that it is a solid adapter instead of a cable, and the price is certainly nice ($1.95 shipped from China). Unfortunately, it doesn't say if it is type A or B. Maybe someone can tell by the images?

Thanks...

I've ordered one of those as well. Let's hope it works.

Might I also suggest http://www.monoprice.com as a resource.
I use them for all my cable and adapter needs. Just can't beat their prices.

Hate to be a necro but just received my DealExtreme Nokia adapter. Tried a mouse, keyboard, gamepad, nothing seems to be working... Is the problem not having enough power to support the devices? (Plugged in my 360 controller just for the heck of it and the light went on but no input recognized)

EDIT: Hmm... After reboot, MicroSD/USB adapter worked for one MicroSD but not for another. Came up with a Error Device Suddenly Removed.

I ordered the deal extreme USB host cable on Dec. 4.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.51045

$4.60 including shipping.

I got it today December 20th from China. I've goofed around with it for a couple of hours. The cable has NOKIA CA-157 label on it.

It works with some external drives. But as has been described above the Archos support is picky. It does work with several Corsair Flash Voyager sticks 4 & 8 GB. It would not work with some older PNY Attache sticks. 1GB and 512 MB. I have 2 oldish external USB reader/writer adapters... one worked one did not... These are both very cheap. The 8 in 1 SIIG USB reader/writer failed. The Media Gear 9 in 4 worked. I used a 2 GB Transcend SD flash card with both.

I read elsewhere that these multi card readers will only read the first slot.. For the Media Gear this was the SD card. For SIIG the sd card is the second slot. The first one could be CF..which I don't have any media for.

I could play MP3's off the sticks... Movies would start. But after 30 seconds they would freeze.. Photos work great.

I tried several external USB disk drives that use external power. I could not get any of these to work. I did not try any other peripherals yet.

But my Flash Voyager sticks are the ones I use around my house to move media via sneaker net. They work so I am happy. And the price was certainly right.

I got something very similar from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023F ... pd_rate_rs). Very nicely constructed, but it did not work. I have not done surgery on it yet, but it is highly likely because there is no loop back between pins 4 and 5 on the micro b male side of the adapter.

Now I just have to decide if I want to go DIY on it, or order the cable from DealExtreme.

Do you know of any USB hubs that work reliably with the A70 ? I tried several and the only one that worked was an old 4 port USB 1.0 hub. Amazing, almost everything (thumb drive, keyboard, mouse) worked if connected to the hub, but not if connected directly to the A70.

I have used the one below and some 4 port usb 1.0 that my husband got as a giveaway at a convention booth.
