Gingerbread Keyboard Issue
I have a 101 running on froyo, I also have a Moto Droid running froyo. On my Droid I downloaded the Gingerbread keyboard from the Market no problem. But when I downloaded it on my 101, it installed fine and shows in the settings but I can't turn it on. Anyone know how to fix it? I really like the 2.3 keyboard and would really, really like to have it on my 101.

Does not work on 101. I tried it and it locked up my 101.
Re: Gingerbread Keyboard Issue
Sorry, that's one of the downsides to Android. Not everything works on every Android device. One of the sacrifices you have to make.

Actually, the Gingerbread keyboard works brilliantly. Much better than stock. Don't get the one from Droid Life, get the one from the market:

I saw someone else post it, so I tried it with my a70. Works as well as the 2.3 keyboard on my Droid; I go back and forth between it and Swype, it's that good!

Re: Gingerbread Keyboard Issue
Newbie question.
I have downloaded the Gingerbread keyboard.
How do I use it now?
I clicked on the icon and it comes up with:
"Find out more"
"Download Better Keyboard"
"Hide from Launcher"
Then it takes me to download the 'Better Keyboard' which costs.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim - I think that is the wrong one, that is a skin for the better keyboard and you are correct it costs. There is another one in the market called Keyboard from Android 2.3 by Steven Lin that is great (free). Once you DL you need to go to settings > language & keyboard > click checkbox to enable it > then go to a text input field (email, or web search) long press and it will give you option to change input and you can select the keyboard.sasjzl wrote:Newbie question.

Re: Gingerbread Keyboard Issue
Got it!
Thank you very much.
I almost got stumped with the 'long press' thing.
Is there a universal meaning to doing a 'long press'?
I take it the keyboard is an improvement in that it does a great job of predicting what words you are going to type thus saving you the trouble of typing the entire word? That must take some time to get used to but I am sure it is worth it.
Thanks again,
Jim

Downloaded it, not bad, but I thought the gingerbread keyboard was multitouch? I can't seem to get multitouch to register.
