The download is blocked by my work's network, so I'll have to grab it later when I get home.

Also, I am hoping that someone gets the gApps4Archos working with froyo soon... may delay the update till this happens.

edit: nevermind, I see that we can get Android Market working on froyo. Counting down till I can head home!

I don't suppose there's still a 2.1 firmware out there? The update crippled the features i use. I'll hang on to the 2.1 until they fix it.

I'm curious about what features were broken? May want to put off updating...

Yes flash works, after you have installed it manually.

Nope. The Android partition size isn't changed, but apps that support installing to SD can be installed to the internal 8 GB of memory.

Well thats kinda cool. But some apps still take up a lot of space even if they are on the SD card.

Today, from the Archos web site, after I DLed 2.0.54 I downloaded every FW they've released.

Hi,

As a newbie with Archos 70, I bought a 16Gb MIcroSd card, but the apps that I install are keeping installing in the main memory (8gb) I looked for a way how to change the installation path, but I didn┬┤t have any luck. Can you explain me how can I do that?

Thanks in advance!!

You don't change the path - simply install apps 2 sd, it will scan your apps and offer you the option of moving those capable of being moved to the sd card - not all apps will move but thankfully most of my large apps have moved, so with about 50+ apps installed, I still have @ 160mb free space

They all work exactly the same - just choose whichever one

Apps2sd still only seems to move the program to the internal memory. Maybe because Archos, (or Android), call the internal memory SDCard. To view files on my removable SDCard using ES File Explorer I have to go to /sdcard/sdcard.

Maybe Archos could change the name of the internal storage, (if possible), to something else like ARCHOS for example.

Resurrecting an old thread sorry. It is NOT full NAND. It is nothing more than Froyo and the ability to use apps2SD. The problem is still that the system partition is 300 meg and that's where apps are installed and where the /data directory resides. In that data directory is the dalvik cache which is built for EVERY app and must be stored there. So even with app2SD in Froyo there is a HUGE limiting factor with the decision of giving only 300 meg. What should have been done and hopefully still can be done is assign 2 gig to system and the rest to storage. Couple with apps2sd it would dramatically increase the usefulness and life of these devices. Otherwise I fear that they will be relegated to the bargain bin quite soon. This is an oversight by Archos and should be addressed immediately.

Wondering if any of this is getting to the engineers over at Archos? It would be nice if there was some feedback from the manufacturer on this.
