Aldiko 2. 0 Premium and Tunein Radio were installed easily, also Teamvierwer which I could not install before. Works great with my PC !

Seems I have a new favourite !

I like this version as well! Can't install apps over 5mb though. Other than that and the video issue, this may be my favorite.

Question regarding the video issue. Is it possible to deompile the dsp drivers from V2 and recompile for this version?

Sounds like a safe way to brick your device :D .
I don't know where speciallb ended when bricking his one. Lefeudedieu's trick with the unbricking seems not to have worked :( .

But I am having an issue with the new Beta 5 that took me some time to figure out.
Whenever I start the music player with my music on the sd-card I get every album twice.
"What the hell..." I thought. Tried to delete the additional folder pictures and everything - still every album twice.

Then I figured out that I created this "sd-card" folder in the "flash" folder and it seems to read the data twice when updating the media information - once from the sd-card and once from the folder.

Robert, any idea ?

It should work...and i'm sure it will.

When you connect your archos t o your pc, you will probably hear a "pling" sound.

Then look at the archos display. In sthe status line (the one ontop of the screen) there should be one (or 2) additional symbols.
Pull down the screen and select "usb devices". Now a dialog box opens where you select "mount".

Have fun..

thats the problem, when connecting to a computer, archos does not see connection, and pc too ...
And if connect USB Flash drive via usb host cable, also did not see connecting.
To test, i'm rollback to yar 0.28 and USB works. and to PC and to Flash drive ...

I find in setings "USB mode select", but if click, archos send error: error... Program stoped.... proc com.android.settings, truy agen ... :(

It is waiting for release.
sorry that the firmware does not support GPS. As seen in my video, I redid this tablet into the carPC.
but it lacks many details.

Okay play with overclocking)

@archospapyo

Maybe you should start a new Topic wit a title like "The new 2.1beta6 for achos7ht1" or similar, because the old title withe the "*REMOVED*" in it won't a attract a lot of users, i guess. I know that i could start such a thread myself, but i would have to link to your firmware and that is something i don't want to do because it is your hard work.

@y6jes1

The 2.1b5 can install bigger apps like txtr, nook, aldiko 2.0 .. even opera 5 (the big one, not the mini) would work (but very slow). It is necessary to install these apps very early (before other apps are installed) and maybe it is only possible to install one big app.
It could have something to to with the strange "system memory" of the archos, but i couldn't find any information concerning this up to the moment.
The Archos has 4 different kind of (permanent) memory:
appspace (230mb in this bios)
cache (55mb)
system memory (85mb)
internal memory (7gb minus the things above)
and of course the lousy 128 mb RAM, which isn't permanent of course.

Unfortunately i don't have a clue what the EXACT reason is, that some apps (e.g. ScummVM) doesn't install even at the beginning. Maybe it has something to do with the 128mb Ram? Are the apk-files too heavily packed? Is the required memory (=RAM) to much while unpacking? Questions,questions... I hope somebody will find out someday

Have a nice weekend,
Robert

BTW i found the reason why audio files are listed 2x in the player:

It happens when you store audiofiles on the sd-card. If you store them on the internal memory, this error doesn't happen.
It's because the sd-card exists twice, as "/sdcard" and as "/flash/sdcard", therefore the system sees the files 2x, but cannot realize, that it would be the dame location. Being a archos specific, there is probably no way around.

Storing audio internally avoids the problem.

Good night,
