hello all my first talk here. First i want to say big THANKS to himself for huge work on A7HT with his FW the tablet is faster touchscreen is better!
i have couple of question, what are u use for watching youtube videos?
is it possible now when archos 70 is out to port android 2.1 on A7HT?
and what browser is the best for u?

What's New:

• Made /system/fonts read write
• Fixed init.sh in boot.img, should help with flashing from one firmware to another.
• Minimalist Market.apk, just market this time.

Version History:

• 0.27 fixed bug in init.sh, replaced if with case, make fonts read write, added /.android/lib to the lib path, /.android/sbin is already there, you can override a binary or library by putting one with the same name in the path in front of it.

Can Someone help me root my archos 7HT.

i want to use himselfs Firmware but my question is do i have to root my device to do so?

This waking up every 3 to 5 minutes is driving me crazy.

i use battery booster and set timeout to 6 seconds for now.

i am using windows 7

i read the how to on himself page at http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?ti ... _SamJr_YAR!

but that page only applies to xp if i power my device off in windows 7 it fails to update any driver
i do not have the firmware driver folders he shows on his page.

where do i get those drivers from i cant find them anywhere.

i dont seem to need them when my device is powered on though.

do i have to power off my device or can i just take his firmware and place it on a sd card and update my 7HT.

First time user here so please if you can help me i would appreciate it.

Hi everybody

I tried to put SamJr YAR V.027 on my tabet A7HT 8GB (the bigest problem - is my wife tablet ).
I copied all files in root of device, restart, tap install, reboot, start installation, install, reboot. I did everything by the book.
And here is the problem. I have only a background image and nothing else. I restarted the tablet but nothing changed. I tried to put an SD, to restart, but nothing work. The big problem - my USB does not work.


Please tell me how can I solve this issue, how can I reinstall a good version. 10x in advance.

LE: I let it open and battery drains out - maybe something reset (a tip received by Him). I tried after that to startup - same picture with wheels - nothing happens.
I tried to shutdown, press reset 15+s nothing happens.
I don't have possibility to use USB so I have a photoframe with "Archos" and Himsealsf wheels . If you know a possibility to do something please HELP me. Thanks

Yes, "Market from 0.26 Himself rom" but the problem is not so simple (I experimented it ) :

= WIFI, with A 7HT, continue to have many problems ( specially if SSID ARE hidden, I have a "warped/manual" script solution)

= Usually when Market try to download/install apk it cant, I am obliged to switch off/on wifi and all go right...
(I had sometimes this problem with my HTC Hero phone using Android 1.6... no more with is last firmware)

Sorry that I can't understand your problem (I can't understand what you mean)...

But anyway, as from the experience to get in touch a few unsolvable issues before, it is always best to start over from restoring the official firmware before doing any further modifications if you found any problems.

Humm...

= Hide SSID (no broadcast) always dont work, when many SSID, with the Archos last official firmware (september) !
= The worst : WMV no more work... always with this official firmware !
= There is no Market apk with Archos firmware !

So, here, we speak about 0.27 Himself rom, build using the Archos last firmware...

TYVM for this great image. After effing up the install by trying it via internal memory and fixing it via USB again I am happy with the tablet. So the screen calibration problems were a software thing and now everything works as expected. Having root is a great bonus

So what this is telling me is even if i installed 027 rom i should use marketplace for 0.15 FW?

The rom v027 has no google apps default.
This is wat worked best for me market from v0.15.I have tried market v027 (almost no google apps) v026 (most google apps but not calendar) the market from 0.15 is the most complete and gets all google options working.

is the mount.apk included as part of it?
if not - then how do i install the needed additional module?
