Angstrom / How to patch...

Post by svolatch »

from ... gb&lang=en:

Installing it onto your device.
To install this new operating system onto your ARCHOS 5 Internet Tablet (and thus replace the current one), download the ├àngstr├Âm distribution modified for the ARCHOS available here. Then install it as a regular .aos update.
ARCHOS also provides the modifications it brought to OpenEmbedded (Angstrom build system): available here.
 :?:

How to install this patch?

What do you mean by patch specifically? Are you calling the .aos file a patch or...?

You only need to patch something if you're going to build the Angstrom image from scratch. Otherwise just install the .aos file linked there.

If you want to build your own Angstrom image- you can follow this tutorial even though it's or the gen6 device.

A couple of differences to the tutorial, in the step where it says MACHINE="archos5", make that MACHINE="archos5it"

In the step where it says
wget ... ded.tar.gz ${OETREE}/openembedded
cd ${OETREE}/openembedded
tar -zxvf archos-openembedded.tar.gz

use the .tar.gz of the patch you got from the page you referenced in your message.
