Maximum mp3 files in ARCLibrary scan?

Post by jeffharris »

I was reading a thread on the Archos 5 forum, that someone couldn't get more than around 32,600-32,745 mp3 files recognized on their Archos 5.

I just bought an Archos 5 Android 500gb, and, I also cannot scan more than 32,745 files, even though I have over 61,000 loaded on the device.

This sucks, as, this is the whole reason I bought this device.

Anyone experience the same? Any fix for this?

35,000 songs takes up I guess around 150gb. Leaving 300gb for other media is a LOT of space.

I'm bummed.

Wow, this really does suck. I'm not there yet, but will be as soon as I can convert the rest of my vinyl. That's exactly the reason I bought the A5 500gb as well. This was supposed to be my portable music collection backup.

They're using 1.5 bytes for the counter, in hex that is 0000-7FFF, in decimal 0-32767. A full two bytes would go up to 65535 and 2.5 bytes would take them to 8388607. Adding another byte seems like a fairly simple change to their code, which would handle everyone's libraries, dontcha know! :o
