Old Archos 5 data

Post by PureSoulKyo »

I have an old Archos 5 (and archos 605) which both got the same issue: Charging ports broke.

They wont connect or take a charge. Now, of course fixing that myself would be swell. But in the absence of that, how can I get the data from these onto my computer?
Possibly some way to open them and directly connect them to a USB wire, or something similar?

After years of owning these product, I can only hope there's some way to get this data!

Thanks in advance

See here for the teardown guide for your device (I'm assuming you have an Archos 5 120/250GB device and not the 60/3G device). Since the drive is a laptop SATA drive (for 120/250GB device) you can probably put it into your computer and have it work. For the 60/3G device, you're probably going to need an adapter to use it (they use a ZIF connector rather than a SATA drive).
