Screen Rotate

Post by tatyavinchu »

I recently bought Archos 5 250GB and have some PDF books that I am reading on it. Is it possible to rotate the screen so that I can read in portrait mode instead of landscape?

Man would it be nice if archos came out with a gyroscope dongle that detected screen rotation on the device.

I don't have much experience with PDF's but I wonder if you could edit them to landscape.

The Archos uses a legacy PDF viewer that doesnt have the rotate option. Thats why I was asking. I can convert the entire book into landscape/portrait but I dont want to do that.

Try a little program called ebook to images and use that instead of the pdf viewer. Pdf's are too slow. You can adjust the text, background, rotate the text and add page numbers with this little program. It's really easy to do and takes seconds. The A5 will also remeber where you were in your book.

This program converts pdf to jpg. If a pdf file is 100 pages, I have to copy 100 jpg to my Archos PDF folder? And if so, I will then have to open these files one by one?

You can just use the image feature and slide each page to view the next image/page

You can also download a app call thinkfree mobile. You will be able to read you pdf there and it will automatically rotate by itself.
