UPnP renderer on Angstrom (Archos 5 IMT)?

Post by Jabberwock »

Is it possible to install a UPnP renderer on Archos 5 IMT running Angstrom?

Basically, I would like to control music streamed from my XBMC HTPC to Archos 5 with my Android phone (Andromote or UPnPPlay)...

I've almost did it...

After many days of trial and error I've managed to install coherence on Archos with Angstrom. This means that I can see the files offered by coherence server and control the gstreamer player with any UPnP controller (including the one on my Android phone!).

The only thing missing is sound, as it seems to be problem with many users of those builds. I still hope I will be somehow to resolve it - it just gets down to have alsa working...

For now I did it, in the most retarded way...

My HTPC is running XBMC (both for playing and sharing) and Windows Media Player playing to a loopback virtual card and VLC streaming from that card to Archos.

I know my HTPC, which is Atom N330, is not going to thank me for the load, but at least it works as expected, so I'll treat it as a proof of concept now.
