update on the cracking/exploiting of 604 WiFi firmware

Its been a while since I've herd anything about the archos firmware progress.So I'm just poking my head out to see whats shakin. Last i herd they got stuck by encrypted files and file headers. any info would be greatly appreciated :D

The only way I can see it being cracked is that each firmware update needs to be looked at. However, I wouldn't hold my breath. Archos released a source that is useless and for some reason the Archos just doesnt have the hackers interested. By the time it get's cracked their will be other PMPs(like the cowon q5) out there that will have everything that the current Archos doesn't so I don't ever think it will get cracked.

small status update

Just to keep you informed and maybe attract some new people to help with it.

There are joint efforts by people from openPMA and archOpen. We spent quite some time analyzing the hardware and software, but we need more people with different skills (e.g. exploiting linux apps) to proceed.

Recently a serial console drew our attention, but we've not fully assessed the possibilities yet.
